Tile too busy?

I'm starting to plan my next project- a minor remodel of the original main floor bath in my house. I'm hoping to keep the white hex tile that has blue inserts and the existing bathtub. I would like to use mostly white subway tile but want to add in the border tile below and a few of the large (10" X 16") decorative tiles. Would this be too busy in a 5' X 8' bath?

The link to the border tile is below. It's the one called 'The Chase'.

Those tiles are B-E-A-UTIFUL! And what an unexpected surprise! I don't think they are too busy at all, I am just concerned that proportionally the larger size will be to too big for the room. Can they make a smaller version of the same tile for you? If that's not an option, another alternative would be to use just 1 or find a set and frame it or them with some chair railing to use as framed art.

Stunning tiles! I think if you used them in moderation and kept everything else in the room simple, you'd have a showplace bathroom that you never wanted to leave!

Thanks for sharing the link, I've definitely bookmarked the site as a possibility to use some of these in a future range backsplash.

Fabulous tiles! And like Gbsim, I agree that those tiles can turn your bath into a paradise. I've found that budget constraints generally keep me from overdoing it with gorgeous accent tiles like those, though you may not have the same limits...

If your budget is generous, check it by getting some graph paper and mocking up your floors and walls. Or if you're great with spreadsheets, you can do it electronically by adjusting your column widths and row heights to a square grid and either coloring them in or copying and pasting the actual tile photos into place.

Consider also that these tiles have a very strong theme with a high degree of contrast to your white, so relatively few of them will go a long way. We did our downstairs bath using Dunis Art Tiles, which are similar in color intensity and dimension to the ones you posted, and found a single strip of 7 tiles across the top of our vanity backsplash was enough to 'decorate' the entire bath. (and since the tiles were $60 each, that's a very GOOD thing!)

Thanks for all of the feedback. I'm thinking of 1 strip of the border tiles with just 1 or 2 of the larger ones over the tub. Everything else in the room is fairly simple so I think it should be ok. I'm really excited about how it will turn out.

You might want to ask the company how well the tiles will hold up in such a wet area. I have some hand painted porcelain tiles in my bathroom and after about 10 years the ones that are located directly where the water hits the wall are faded just a bit. Probably no one but me would ever notice it. Also those art tiles like that are usually thicker than regular tiles so they will stick out from the wall a bit more.
