Anyone else having trouble logging in?

I use Firefox and I automatically have it clear all cookies, etc., when I quit the browser. For the last several days when I've come to GardenWeb and wanted to login to post, I've had a problem. I enter my username and password and it seems to accept it and take me back to the forum where I want to post...but I'm still not logged in. Today I went through this process 6 times before I got in. I know I'm entering my username and password correctly. And, what's curious, when I went to the GardenWeb "Contact Us" page to send a message, it had my username displayed even though I supposedly wasn't logged in. So, it sounds to me like a glitch with the GardenWeb servers. I'm not looking for solutions so much as wondering if this is happening to anyone else.

Yes, same problem and I don't have FF clear my cookies. Some glitch going on with GW.

I continue to have trouble logging in Ubuntu. I did send a message using the recommended link but I never received an answer.

I had a problem a few weeks ago, but not lately.

I, too, sent a message to GardenWeb, but have gotten no response. Just came back here and it took 7 more login attempts before I got in.

no have not had any problems at all, was having to log in more often for a while but not seeing that lately. My guess is it may be one of the new ads or something they have added again, they are making a lot of changes and most are not really very good it seems.

I'm guessing that you saw the What's New at GW Message and then went to the link...Login and Profile Issues

    Posted DEc 28th:
    For login issues:
Sometimes your browser's cookie file can become corrupt and it can be helpful to delete it and restart your browser. More information on how to do this can be found here. Please give us a detailed description of your issue. If you can't login, a step-by-step account of what you do to login is crucial. On what forum or page are you logging in? Where is the link on the page that you are using? What error message do you receive? Can you login on any other pages or is it just in one specific area?"Some of the links to login are not working properly and will cause a page error when you try to sign in. If this happens, use the login link found at the very top of the page. It is located in the green bar next to the GardenWeb logo and says, 'Log in'. You can also log in using this url - http://www.gardenweb.com/auth/login.htm

Then Jan 6th, this was added:
    " Some of the links to login are not working properly and will cause a page error when you try to sign in. If this happens, use the login link found at the very top of the page. It is located in the green bar next to the GardenWeb logo and says, 'Log in'. You can also log in using this url - http://www.gardenweb.com/auth/login.htm";

So, assuming that you cleared cookies and restarted your browser, and you gave a detailed description of your issue when you contacted them, and that you have tried as suggested to log in from the link at the very top of the page and from http://www.gardenweb.com/auth/login.htm , I'd suggest contacting them again, with the info requested, and note in the subject line something like "Logging In-second report".

I'm not having log-in issues, but am having Profile issues, which I have reported and they are working on. I'm sure that is taking a back seat though to those who are still having "log in" issues.

Thanks...I hadn't seen that info. I had the same problem today logging in...a half dozen attempts. However, after reading your reply, I logged out and then tried the tip of logging in from the top of the GardenWeb page, rather than whatever forum I was in, and that worked for me the first time. So, hopefully, I'm good for now.

    Thanks
    You're welcome.

    .I hadn't seen that info.
hmmmm....Do you have the What's New on Garden Web message collapsed? Often when there are 'major' problems here, they have a message there about it, and in this case a link to the whole message at The Suggestion Forum.

Anywho...I hope the log in link at the top continues to work for you. I know you have probably helped me in the past, or that I have learned from reading your many replies to others.

Never even noticed the "What's New on GardenWeb" until you pointed it out! I've been on GardenWeb so long I just kind of bore in on some topics without lifting my head up. Anyway, thanks again. I'm logging in fine now from the main page.

I'm still having login problems. It doesn't remember me, and I have to log in twice each time. I have FF w/adblock plus (NO ads show at all). And I can't save changes to my Profile page either. I hope they get these problems fixed soon. I have the same problems with IE when I occasionally try there. I've emailed twice where they say to do so, but no response yet.

    Shirley-
I use Firefox with AdBlock Plus, too. Have you tried to login at the very top of the main GardenWeb page? I usually have logged in from any page I was on when I saw something I wanted to reply to, but started having login problems recently. Going to the main page to login fixed the problem for me.

My login problems have been solved, I think. After posting a 2nd message, I received a reply asking for more info. After providing it, was given the solution in less than an hour. The fix for me was to get rid of the bookmark I was using which was from the mirror website--thathomesite-- and the link I was told to use is the one listed below.

Here is a link that might be useful: garden web

I've tried all kudzu9 and azinoh posted. As soon as I close, then reopen my browser, I have to login again. I click on save the info each time, but it doesn't hold it. Maybe tomorrow, I'll email them again. Thanks.

    Shirley-
Do you have Firefox set to clear your bookmarks, etc., each time you close the browser? (Which is something you can change.)

I do that for security reasons, so I know I have to login each time I come back after closing the browser. That doesn't bother me...it was the trying half a dozen times to login that was annoying.

kudzu: No, I don't have it set to clear the bookmarks on exit. I will email them again tomorrow. Maybe this time, they'll answer me.
