Poinsettias and snowman hats

Here's the tablescape I came up with for a "girls" lunch tomorrow for DIL, her Mom, and my little Granddaughter. We'll have lunch then make a couple batches of peanut brittle since DIL's Mom wants to learn to make it.

The cute little snowmen salt/pepper shakers were gifts from Karen, the black bunny was a gift from my neighbor/friend, the red/white checked napkins were sent to me by Jaybird along with matching napkins, the red ruffled chargers were a TS find--8 for $7.00, and the little snowmen hats were discounted after Christmas finds from a Cracker Barrel we went to while visiting Karen in Phoenix last January.

Enjoy!

    Luvs,

The girls will love your table and hope you teach DIL's DM to make Peanut Brittle. It's so easy and most like it. TFS all the deatails of how you came up with this table. I love the little hats and would of asked if you hadn't told your story. Your snowmen S & P shakers are so cute.

I would love to see J's napkins in a picnic basket this summer and they look great added to your table. Cute black bunny and what a great buy on your chargers. I really like your holly plates.

I'm happy to see more on the red and black after setting my table with these colors.LOL

That looks so festive! And it sounds like a fun afternoon!
Love the snowmen hats! I bought a large one to use as a centerpiece for a table I hope to do...Snowmen don't go away at Christmas right? They stick around.
    I got it in Michael's.
    Love the table, Luvs!

That is beautiful and the hats are neat touch and I love the poinsettias just pile around the candles like that. Ya'll have fun with the peanut brittle.

Kathleen, lucky you to find the snowman hat--I've wanted one ever since Tam used one for a centerpiece a year of so ago. Need to go looking for one now at the after Christmas sales, but woke up with a bit of a sore throat this morning! You are right, snowmen stick around all winter! Can't wait to see your next tablescape. ;o)

Syble, those poinsettias are nice big velvet ones and really look much prettier in real life. I had picked up that candle holder on a TS trip (how many similar ones have I donated in previous years???) and had planned to attach some styrofoam and greenery picks--but got lazy and just tried this.

Punk, yes, I like the red/black combo too. When my friend first gave me the black painted paper mache bunny--I was a bit taken aback by it! But when putting this table together, I realized he was just the thing to add more black/red to the table along with the little hats. Funny how things work out like that, isn't it?

Luvs...this is such a pretty table. I love the cute snowman hats and the black adds a nice touch to the red and white.
Those ruffled chargers were a great find and price. They set your pretty dishes off nicely along with those checked napkins. Everything looks very festive.
I bet your DGtr was very impressed sitting at this table.
Hope you had a great day.

What a beautiful table Luvs! Your bunny is perfect on the table and I love the little snowman hats. I've been hunting a top hat ever since I saw Tam's table also. I think my daughter has the same stemware that you have. Is the pattern Longchamp?

What a pretty table, Luvs! IMO, those red & white checked napkins "made" the table. They added the perfect touch, I think. Congrats!

How Pretty! I love the layers. Judith taught us well, didn't she?

The centerpiece is soooo elegant. I'm glad you 'got lazy' and made it this way!

Tam's top hat was one of my favorites, too. I'm glad you found these. They are the perfect touch.

I hope your Bunny is more well behaved than Kathleen's. He must have been really bad to be in time-out this long!!

I know you had a great day together. What was for lunch? And how did the peanut brittle class go? Details - I want details!! LOL

Looks very inviting! Love your color scheme also...using the black in there...very cute hats & bunny! Looks like you've had lots of good teachers on this forum! (and now I'm learning from you, too!) TFS, luvs! Jeanne S.

Lovely! I'm sure the gals will ooh and ahh over it. Everything works together so well. I really like the snowman hats, too cute! What a find on the ruffled chargers, pretty centerpiece - not lazy, simple! Cute snowmen salt and peppers. I really like the red, white and black combo. I'm sure you all had a wonderful time and this tablesetting was the icing on the cake (or peanuts in the brittle lol) TFS! - M

We made three batches of peanut brittle, and my "student" was amazed that it was that easy! DH's uncle would be proud that his "recipe" is one of our annual traditions.

    Homemade Peanut Brittle

    1 cup sugar
    1 cup raw spanish peanuts
    1 cup Karo clear syrup

Heat the ingredients on medium heat in a heavy saucepan, bring to a boil and cook until peanuts have turned from white to golden. When you start to smell the aroma, it is getting close to being done.
Remove from heat, add 1 teaspoon of baking soda and stir in. Mixture will foam. Beat until foam subsides then pour onto lightly greased cookie sheet spreading as you go. Let cool until it easily releases from the cookie sheet then break into pieces and enjoy.
Mixture is very hot and sticky--do not get any on your skin. Pans will clean up easily if filled with hot soapy water and left to soak a few minutes.

Have to tell you about DH checking out the table. He remembered when I had bought the little hats--he always trys to rush me out of Cracker Barrel before I find something I want! He asked where I got "those ruffled plates", meaning the chargers. And of course I replied "Oh I've had them for months, just hadn't had a chance to use them." He said "that's what you always say".

I'm just amazed at how much more he notices now that he is retired! LOL

I hope you feel better, Luvs..
I don't remember Tam's table. I will go see if I can find it on her blog..
It was really more than I wanted to spend, even at 50 off..but there were only 2, so I knew it wouldn't make it down to 75 off.
I thought I would use fresh flowers in it..We'll see..have to think about it..still have so much Cmas stuff I didn't get to use this year!

I KNEW those napkins would look better at your house...and sure 'nough, I was right!!! Beautiful table Luvs, I know they enjoyed your hard work and hope all of you had a great time!!!

Hey, Jaybird, I tried my red snowflake napkins and then the red checked ones from you--you can see which ones I preferred. Thought they worked perfectly. I'm still wanting to do a table with the matching placemats when things get all put back together around here. Thanks again for passing them on to me--I love them.

Kathleen, I'm pretty sure it was one of her tables last year. She used the hat on a pedestal--not filled with anything. You could probably email her to see it quicker. I've kept my eyes open for one, but haven't seen any so far--not sure where I'd find to store one anyway! LOL

Oh Luvs, I love the beautiful centerpiece you made and those lovely hats on each plate. No wonder if your guests were happy to sit at such a lovely table!

You're definitely talented and not only when it comes to paintings!

    Luvs,
I am impressed with how you used so many different layers and made it all work. First, you used a solid red charger that has ruffles. Then you used a dinner plate with a Christmas pattern. Then you placed a red salad plate with bumps on top of that. And then the red and white checkered napkin. Finally, the little black hat. How did you know it would all work so well??!! You have a great eye, kiddo. Very nice job.

OA, thanks for the nice compliment, but I've really been studying all the tables posted here and on the blogs to try to determine what I like. From there, I just have to try to make use of what I have to work with. This was the first time I have used chargers! I'm hoping to get to use them again for Valentines. Trust me, I don't really know what I'm doing--I just get an idea and then play around until it looks okay. LOL Luvs

Tam's top hat table is in our Table Setting album, the Christmas sub album.
