Deleting Yahoo Email Account

I would like to delete one of my Yahoo email accounts because all I get are SPAM messages. I don't use it for anything else. How do I do that?

I find spam questions most interesting and confusing.
I would like to delete one of my Yahoo email accounts because all I get are SPAM messages.

I just checked my Yahoo account and I have gotten only five(5) spam messages since March 3rd and two of them from companies I have done business with.

Something else is going on. I get three to five unsolicited phone messages on my answering machine each day. My phone is a much bigger problem than my email.

rather than deleting one when it is like that instead use that email address when signing up for things online or when ordering stuff that way if it gets on some spam list no harm it is already a spammed addy.
Most people do just that then always have one address that is solely used for that type of action and never use their good main email addy for anything other than actual email with family and friends.

however the way they turn into spammed addys is when you have people that forward email to you with exposed addys in the To field, the spammers start those just to have them spread like a fire and then they rake in all those email addys. Which is why everyone should use the BCC feature when emailing.

I have many email addresses, one is yahoo which I rarely use but in all the years I have had it I have had maybe 4 spam. My hotmail which I use daily I get maybe 4-5 a week.
Using the provided spam filters also helps and anytime you get a spam mail make sure to send it to the spam or junk folder rather than delete it so that the program can learn what is junk.

For years I have been recommending multiple addresses each with a dedicated use. This absolutely deters spam, but nothing is better than the precautions that are regularly shared here.

    In my case:

An ISP account for immediate family, close friends, medical sites and financial needs

A Hotmail account for household needs such as website registration, product registration, home and auto service accounts

A Hotmail account for strickly computer forums

A Hotmail account for private concerns

and, a Yahoo account which was required to establish the "My Yahoo" homepage. I don't remember the last time I used it.

I have all the Hotmail accounts linked together so there is only one click needed to change accounts. If one of the accounts would become victimized, all I have to do is close/ignore it and the integrity of the others remains.
