Problem with Malwarebytes

I've been using Malwarebytes for a while now. Today I updated it then went ot run a scan. It ran for about 10 seconds found 1 object infected and then closed. I tried this a couple of times and the same thing happened. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

I also have Trend Micro security pro which scans every day without any problems.

Thank You

Tracey

un install an reinstall it is one option, or run the current program in the Safe mode see what happens...

Thank you. It's running in safe mode right now. We'll see what happens.

Post a log if you want i will look at it, see if it run in normal mode after safe mode.

I ran it in safe mode without a problem and cleaned up the 1 object that came up. I restarted my computer and tried to run a scan and the window just closed again. I uninstalled it then reinstalled and it keeps doing the same thing. I can't figure it out.

Here is the log from today.

    Thanks

Scan looks ok i don't know what the problem is unless it's a firewall or anti virus program causing an issue.

what is your your anti virus an firewall?

I'm running Trend Micro Internet Security Pro. I received an update this morning from Trend Micro. When I went to run Malwarebytes, a box popped up asking if I wanted to allow the connection which I did. That has never happened before.

I just checked my settings and it's set to allow Malwarebytes but it still won't run a scan. I wonder if there was something in that update??

    Disable the firewall

I disabled the firewall and it still won't run. I don't know what else it could be.

I found out what the problem was and was able to fix it. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction zep516 and padd_y.

Here is the link on how to fix it in case anyone else has the same problem. It is an issue with Trend Micro Security Pro.

    Thanks Again

    Tracey thanks,

For reporting back what was the exact issue with Trend Micro?

Trend Micro was blocking the newer version of MBAM. There were issues with both antivirus and firewalls. I think McAfee is having the same problems.

The firewall was blocking the new version because the fingerprint does not match the previously allowed version.

Now I have to go fix my netbook.

Techno-dummy here with a question: If one has Trend Micro or McAfee (or some other commercial product, I suppose), are there significant advantages to also running Malwarebytes from time to time? Seems this post outlines one disadvantage.

Tracey's skills, together with the great help provided here, got her through this issue. I, on the other hand, would just freak out and after reading all this, probably just not run Malwarebytes unless it catches a whole bunch of stuff that the other programs missed. TIA!
