Lexmark X83 - does anyone have...

an installation disc for this all-in-one? Someone donated it to my library and didn't have the installation disc.

We certainly need this printer as we don't have the budget for anything new, so would be willing to pay a reasonable fee and for postage to send it to us.

Thanks,

Jann

Jann click on the link below to visit the download page for that printer. You need to select the operating system to continue.

As this was donated perhaps you should make sure it prints before spending any money on ink cartridges. These days many printers are cheaper than the inks they need sadly so sometimes folks simply get rid of a printer and buy new.

You might read here about the issues with that model. Not saying they are all like that but to be forwarned...... Lexmark X83 AIO printer problems

Here is a link that might be useful: X83 drivers download site

Good advice, Owbist, but is there any way to know if it prints before you buy cartridges? I've got 4 Lexmark paperweights here myself--all different models and, no, I didn't buy them.

From what I read a while ago on this forum, they must be used at least weekly or the print heads(?) or something like that dry up and they don't print anymore. Sandy

Well some printers simply stop when even one cartridge is empty while others will keep going till the ink fades. You may have a point there regarding testing without buying a cartridge, I am unsure. But I would surely try, in the case of the Lexmark listed above the link indicates a poor track record. Lexmarks do not seem to be the good printer they were a few years ago.

There is a real possibility the jets will clog if a printer is not used on a reasonably regular basis, even a small print job is good enough.

We have a Lexmark X4250 and at times the cartridge carrier refuses to return to the parked position needing me to poke my thumb in there sharply to seat the thing. The colour quit of a year ago but most of my wife's needs are black and white. If she needs colour my HP will take care of it.

    Owbist,

Thanks for the warnings! We figured the printer probably wasn't all that great, but the one we have is a disaster!
And actually, I have an ink cartridge left over from an old printer that used the same kind that's never been opened, so we'll at least try it (2006 is when it was bought!)

But clue me in here--I don't have to have an installation disc, we just download the correct drivers???? Sounds too simple to be true.

Yes Jann, just click the link I provided above and then select your operating system and off you go. Once the download is complete double click on it to install.
