If you like the wire shelves, stay with them: it won't be an expensive change out down the road. Doubt that it will be too big an issue for the next owners, either.

OTOH, I don't care for wire shelving for clothes-- leaves a grid pattern on my favorite sweaters. I keep a folded towel on under them when I think about it.

I don't think that upgrading for a potential resale 10-15 years in the future (especially an item like this which is relatively easy to change any time you would like to do so) makes much sense.

If you put in wood shelving now, it will be beat up in 5-10 years so you might as well go with wire now if that is what you want and then replace it when it comes time to sell.

in ten to fifteen years there's a good possibility it will be a knock down. my neighborhood is all knock downs from the 60s. there are some original owners still here, putting up new siding and other "upgrades". if they're staying that's one thing, but if they're getting ready to sell it's a waste of money.
