I got a non-final spec sheet and installation doc from Bluestar for the 36" Platinum last week from their technical support people.

Although for sale, this range still seems like it's in the developmental stages. Only one person on this forum owns one (a 48") and it's been a nightmare for them.

Looking at the raised grill in the center of the Platinum 36, I'm wondering if one of the biggest advantages of my standard Bluestar range top - removing the grate and dropping the 16" wok perfectly inside, still works out? It looks like the removable grill, a feature I would consider upgrading for, might get in the way of a wok or even a wide fry pan. Looking forward to hands-on reviews.

I'm with you stevep, I much prefer the built in griddle on my RNB than that removable one on the Platinum. Besides appearing not very attractive or well thought out, and as you say, in the way, one has to remove and replace it with a grill? Might as well have a six burner with a Chef King or Lodge sitting up there all the time...

Hi everyone -- thanks for the follow up. Stevep2005, my understanding is that the Platinum comes with 6 (or 8) burners AND the griddle/grill for use when and if you want. That versatility is what attracts me to the Platinum -- then, of course, you have to find a place to store all that heavy equipment should you only want the burners at any given time.
