I hate it!! Hate!! Hate! I want my old page back!!

Ok, I got my 'pointer' back...

Now, for some reason my homepage changed- I forgot how the top of the page is loaded- through the web browser or some way else... I used to have 'file', 'edit' 'view''tools', 'help' at the top left. Just below that was 'favorites'. At top right was either Yahoo/Google space where I could enter what I wanted to search for- now it is gone!! Now I have 'tablike' pages- they look like index cards! I tried to do a backup/restore to earlier date, but after 6 hours it still showed 'initializing restore in progress', so I called a local Geek and he said if it had not restored in 6 hours it wasn't going to. How do I figure out which 'top page setting' that I had? Thanks Geezzzz I like the old stuff...

    Did you download IE9?

What browser are you using? IE or Firefox?

    Which version? IE8...IE9?

Place your mouse at the very top of the screen. Does all the items suddenly appear?

Sounds like you may have your screen in FULL SCREEN view.

If this is the case, when you place your mouse at the top of the screen look for Tools on the right then click. In the list uncheck Full Screen view.

I believe I had IE, but not sure which version. Now, I am not sure WHAT one is up! Right now there are 3 searches running- there are 3 'file card tabs' at the top of the page. Two of them have a small red/green/blue/yellow flag icon, the third has the 'Gardenweb' icon- the page that I am on now.
Walnut.. I did not download anything that I am aware of.. If I move my curser to the top nothing happens- there is a 'wrench' on the far right, but when I click on it, it opens a list that has 'Google Chrome' near the bottom, yet the icon on the far left of the page (this page), is the 'Yahoo' icon. I don't even have a way to open my 'favorites' now.

I am wondering if I am in 'Google Chrome' or IE9 by some chance? How do I check which browser I am set to go to auto? Tx

You have downloaded Google Chrome. You should be able to go to Start>All Programs>Google Chrome. When you click on Google Chrome, there is an uninstall tool, click on that to uninstall Chrome.

Walnutcreek may be on to something here.

@ilmbg. We need you to be our eyes so we can see exactly what you are looking at. Please be patient!

Do as walnutcreek tells you to. Which is:

Go to Start, then All Programs, and look for Google Chrome in the list. Right click on it and choose uninstall.

If it is there you have had to install something and Google Chrome was part of the package that was prechecked. You could have then clicked so fast that you did not even see that it was installing. If this is what happened you also did not see the option where it asked if you wanted Google Chrome to be your default browser.

OK- thanks- I did uninstall Chrome- my neighbor installed IE99 and that automatically made Chrome install I think??? So do I have to reinstall IE7 ? I think it is the IE7 that she updated to a '9'.

Finally!!! Thank you!! My page is almost like it was before- the only thing I can't seem to get back is the 'Favorites/History' beneath the 'File' at laft hand side of page- I can live with that! Now... back to the mouse...

I think you should consider investing in a cheap mouse to have at hand...I think that mouse pad gets you into trouble at times...in future, instead of making a subject of " I hate it etc" could you please make the subject more in tune with the problem you are experiencing ie: Lost my regular browser page"..That way, if someone is looking thru search for a similar problem they are experiencing, your thread will show along with the "fix".. with the subject that you have chosen, it will not
