My first purchase for my soon to be new home!

Well, I just made my first purchase today for my new home and I'm really really excited about it! Even though it's not finished yet, I like to plan ahead. I consider it an upgrade for the garage.

    Seriously?

If so, color me green with envy: My entire mortgage wouldn't cover that one.

I hear it's an amazing drive, though.

Oh, I hope you enjoy your new purchase! About a year ago, my husband sort of shocked me with a lovely Lexus hardtop convertible that actually resembled your honey. Same general shape, color, and a little darker interior. My Lexus lasted 8 months. It didn't fit my life. All you could do with it was drive or shop at "clean" stores. No potted plants in the trunk (the trunk's carpet was too pretty). No bags of fertilizer and birdfood was out. Traded that baby in on a little Acura and never looked back!

At least the top goes down so you can carry lumber...LOL!

Ooh la la! I take it you'll be building your garage first? LOL

Very pretty! My dad looked at the Continentals about two years ago. We don't have a dealer in our area and he was worried about getting it serviced, so he went with the MB S600. Gets a whopping 4 mpg. lol It's like riding in a piece of art or a luxury handbag. You really get what you pay for in finer cars. The level of craftsman is beyond gorgeous. Me, I like to ride in the back so I can use the rolling massage feature.

Beachlily, the Lexus SC does seem impractical. In the Lexus vehicles I've owned, the trunk mats flip from carpet to waterproof. When we bought a GX470 for antique shopping, Costco runs and taking the dogs to the vet. I ordered one of the heavy waterproof liners with edges that come up for the wayback.

    Alison0704: Costco runs...in a Lexus??? ROTFLMAO!

Golfguy: Would you like to adopt me? Seriously tho, if you're got it to spend, thank you for spending it! Every dollar that flows in this shrinking economy helps keep it from grinding to a halt entirely. BTW - is that "butterscotch" leather? That's the color it looks on my monitor and, I swear, my blood sugar level jumped just from looking at it!

Must be a man thing--furnish the garage before the house. My DH bought a red Mazda MX 5 and a Harley for our new garage. Your Continental looks awesome!

What - do you think some who own Lexus, MB or Bentley, etc don't go to Costco? I don't go but once every two/three months; not an inch to spare. Dad goes once a week. Smart shopping saves money, no matter the tax bracket.

Just gorgeous, gorgeous. What a lovely car.

I am from a "car" family - my father does the Classics - Packards, old Caddys, Lasalles - he in fact just won a national award at the big Hershey car show...... but hence we are more of a one horsepower driven family ourselves. Like beachlilly - our cars get kind of abused with mud/hay/straw/poop. I am never clean enough to get in a car like that! LOL

Enjoy, enjoy.... it will be great to take to the golf course for sure.

    PD

I really did not expect to buy the car at all! I had a GrandTurismo S on order for the last 3 months but everyday started having second thoughts for a few reasons.

The only other car I really liked was the GT. After driving the GT with the dealer I couldn't even remember the car I had on order.

Yes, the price difference was HUGE but I really felt when all things considered it fit everything I needed and I did not have to compromise on anything that was important to me unlike the S.

*Also for a side note: I'm not a big flashy type of person so I don't want people to get the wrong idea. It's a very nice car but it's still just a car and nothing more than that. Some stuff I do requires myself to be presented in a certain way and that plays into some of my purchases. With that being said, if anyone will be living in the Virginia area and wants to take a spin I'd give you the keys in a second! :)

Pretty car! I am not a car person and that car is so far beyond what I will ever have, you can tell because I had to google to figure out what the make was :). I am sure you will enjoy it.

Clearly, we need your input on the "Financial" forum!

It's a little hard to swallow that you are not 'flashy' and that a car is just a car...after you've posted these glam photos. Actions speak louder than words, doncha know?

Your OP is so over-the-top that I thought you were having a little joke.

    Hi Chisue,

How are you doing today? It may appear to be a little hard to swallow and I totally see your point of view. I tend to throw people for a loop sometimes if you know what I mean. Depending if you meet me for business compared to a personal situation. Sometimes you have to play the part and as I mentioned that goes into some purchases I make. Whether is a car or a great pair of flip flops from Old Navy, it's not about price. It's just finding something that you love.

I guess my first post I was just really excited but I don't think that's a bad thing. Reading posts from others on the forum since I have been signed up you can here such joy and excitment in their words from all the new home owners and from homes that have just been completed and moved into. Even look at people showing their kitchen tiles or faucets. Who would have thought kitchen tiles could bring someone to tears after it's been installed. I enjoy seeing what makes people happy, it's kinda cool and makes me push forward through the process!

Want to hear something funny! The best purchase I have made this year was my toothbrush. I love it so much! Sounds crazy right? My friends think I'm nuts because I always bring it up. I could write a whole post about it! I would for sure say I'm pretty random, but I try to keep it fun and light!

    Cheers!

Oh, wow! Are you going to tell us all about your marvelous toothbrush? Hmm...not sure there's an appropriate forum here, but that shouldn't stop you.

Is your name Tiger by any chance?

Alison, I'm not saying I wouldn't be BUYING stuff from Costco if I had the $$$ to have that kind of car... but it would be my maid, cook, personal assistant, or personal shopper that would be doing the SHOPPING for me! And they wouldn't be driving my Lexus to do it.

Instead of spending MY time pushing a cart around Costco looking for deals on laundry soap, chicken breasts, and athletic socks, I'd be out on the golf course or tooling down a scenic highway in that pretty toy! I admit that I'm rather odd in that I detest shopping and get "mall back" even before my DH does. But I suppose if one were both wealthy AND loved shopping, they might take their Lexus to Costco. Pretty sure I've never seen one in the parking lot at the Costco where I shop tho.

    :-)

golf guy, you're not supposed to post the same message on two different forums. You posted this same thing on the Buying and Selling Homes Forum. Are you trying to impress everybody?

    Blueheron,

As you can read in the 2nd entry under "Buying and Selling" I posted it to the wrong forum as I had only posted in "Building a Home" only. There is no way to delete the post once posted.

I hope you all don't mind. But I thought I'd post a picture of my sweetie. I'm hoping she will like the new home I'm building for her, will leave her so-called husband and move in with me so we can live happily ever after. I feel so funny sharing this with everybody, but take my word I'm very sincere about this.

    A worthy bride to be

I don't see it as bragging. If thegolfguy posted a picture of his new Honda would it still be bragging? I don't see any difference. But Worthy is bragging! ;)

Bevangel, anything beside an antique store I hate. I never go to malls. Hate them....sort of ironic that I own commercial real estate. I buy most of my clothes/shoes online. I do enjoy going to Costco though. Not sure why, as I dislike grocery shopping.

I know what you mean, thegolfguy. Now tell us about this great toothbrush!

I want to hear about the toothbrush!! Lovely car, by the way. Congratulations, and enjoy it!!

Oh, worthy, you dog! Hee-hee! Love your post.

I can't wait to see what other trophy will be posted here by someone claiming it has relevance to BUILDING A HOME.

To the OP, I think your new car is GORGEOUS! You are like my hubby who adores a nice vehicle! Congratulations!!

Allison, I have a Lexus and was at Costco 4 times this week. LOL! I keep waiting for the Mahi Mahi to come in.

Now, worthy, you know how she gets when you start flashing her picture around! There's going to be heck to pay next time you see her!

I love it when she plays rough.

    Grrrrr!

    HA!

And here I thought it was going to be a wreath for the front door or something!

Very nice car, golfguy. And, er...your wife-to-be isn't bad, either!

    Just for the record?

I would like to hear about the toothbrush, too.

That kind of joy, I can afford!

    :)

Chisue, you need to go buy a sense of humor for you new house!!!

teach2007 -- Oh, I think this is very funny -- leg-pulling funny, as my late grandmother would say.

she's beautiful golfguy! enjoy safely. please continue to keep us up to date on your purchases. and don't mind the occasional insult. it happens a lot around here. i live in a big golf town but don't play myself. i was thinking of some lessons though, since i can't ride horses anymore (accident in fancy automobile i was driving years ago. way too much car for a 17 year old girl!) i don't care to see the toothbrush but if you've got any art around (besides the bentley) i'd love to have a peek at it. GL!

Thanks again Kateskouros! Hey, everyone has a right to speak their mind. No big deal.

Sorry you can't ride anymore. I have only tried it a few times in Ocala, FL. I would take some golf lessons, it would be a good way to enjoy the outdoors regardless of how well you play. What big golf town do you live in?

    Cheers!

we have seven courses here in colts neck, nj
golf is big, but horses are bigger.
no pro tourneys here, but lots of green.
i've been dying to get a pair of those funny golf shoes to sit beside my prada's. and maybe one of those plaid hats, too!

Wow, that's funny! I was down in your area recently at Trump National in Colts Neck.

Not sure your style but check out LadyGolf.com for shoes. They have some really cool golf shoes for women from Unutzer & Sesto Meucci that kinda have a Prada feel. I got a pair of
Walter Genuin from them and are like slippers.

so they do pro tournaments here too? i never knew!
and thanks, i'll check out the prada-like golf shoes.
