The countdown begins. One week till the beginning of the end...

...of LOST.

If you've never seen it ... it's not too late. All five seasons are online. I was hooked when I saw the pilot even though that wasn't until last year.

Here's a video synopsis of highlights from the past 5 seasons.

LOL, I had no idea WHAT you were talking about. I'm not much of a tv person at all and have never watched Lost, but have heard/read about it and have thought I might like it. No way though could I catch up in a week LOL.

    Enjoy!

Oh, cool, I didn't know it was online! I should try to catch up. That must be a really good show because so many people seem completely hooked on it. (My sister is one, and she's not a big TV watcher. She even turns her phone off when it's on, lol.) I missed the very first episode, caught the 2nd through middle of the first season, missed the final episodes of Season 1. Then I got lost. ;D

Thanks for the link! If I watch the synopsis, do you think it will it be enough to be up to speed on it?

If I watch the synopsis, do you think it will it be enough to be up to speed on it?

Unfortunately, no. I just watched it and it's more an advertisement than synopsis. If it were me, I'd watch what I could online (it's real easy to watch 3 - 4 episodes back to back ... and read the excellent written synopsis at Lostpedia for the rest.

I knew exactly what you were talking about. We finally got a tivo last month in anticipation. I must be the last person on the planet to not have it, btw. We qualified for a free upgrade for our receiver box we were so far out of it.
I really hope John is not in the state he was in. No spoilers from me!

No bumblebeez - you're not the last - we don't have Tivo but then as I already mentioned in another thread, we don't have cable either - never have!

My name is Deb and I'm a Lostie.

They had me from the first episode. I don't answer the phone, I don't talk to my DH and I don't multi-task as I will for other shows. It gets my undivided attention - and I STILL miss clues and details!!! Which is why I never miss the repeats with the captions (kind of a Cliff Notes for the uninitiated) and will many times re-watch on the computer.

My DH does not get it at all. When he would watch with me he would constantly say things like - How can you watch this? How you you believe that? - which is why he is now banned from speaking to me when it's on! For some reason I've totally been able to suspend all reality based thinking for this show even though that's not my normal m.o.

Hey, natal, thanks again for that link! I finally managed to catch parts I & II of the Pilot. So some pieces are fitting together better. Now I need to catch up on more, let's see...5 years worth in a week... ack!

I'd rather catch up online and DVR the new season when it starts airing. Then I can watch those once I'm caught up on prior stuff. Keep waking up at 4a.m., might as well do it then. And it will offer some relief from tax work for me. ;)

If I finish this it will be a marathon of TV for me!

For anyone interested, go to natal's first link above. I will say I had major trouble viewing in Firefox (browser I use all the time). In fact I couldn't. Kept getting site errors. Finally switched to Internet Explorer and abc site has to d/load a custom media player add-on. For some reason IE gave me the prompt to d/load and run it, Firefox did not. Episodes are about 40 minutes with abt 3 commercial breaks. It's in HD, so image quality is very good.

Okay, I took the bait. I like to have at least one show I like to watch and right now I don't. SO, I just ordered Seasons 1 & 2 of Lost.

There is no way I'd ever watch 5 seasons in a week or ever 3-4 episodes at a time LOL. I do good to make it through a 2-hour movie! I can't get into watching on-line either. So, I decided the dvds are so cheap, I'd just buy them and see how I like it. We can watch at our own rate.

I bought two seasons so I'd get the free shipping. If, for some reason we don't like it, I'll pass the DVD's along to someone else. I'll probably share them with my parents regardless, as my mom stays with my 93 year old grandmother and tv is big in there house!

    Thanks Natal!

No Tivo here either. I'm not even sure what that is. ;)

I heard people talk about this show and never gave it a second thought until last year when someone on another forum mentioned watching it online. I was hooked with the pilot. There were many nights I had to force myself to shut the computer down. Tina, I'm the same way with most movies, but there's something about this show.

Last night ABC re-aired the final 2 episodes from last season with the captions Deb mentioned. First time I'd seen the captions. Was a bit distracting. That's why it's probably better to view the episode without, first time around. On the ABC site the episodes with captions are labeled "enhanced."

    I love this!!!

Gee, that reminded me of how sad I felt for Hurley.

My DH does not get it at all.

Mine gave me a hard time when I sat at the computer for hours on end trying to catch up on 5 seasons. Now that it's almost over he's telling me he wishes he'd watched it from the beginning. No doubt we'll be buying the DVD collection once it ends. I think you could watch this show ad infinitum and still miss things.

I got sidetracked and completely forgot about this.
So have yet to see any online episodes beyond the pilot. :/

I thought you were talking about the end of the world, geez.

Jane, if I knew the world was ending in a week this is the last place I'd be. ;)

Is anyone watching? Bumblebeez? OMG, had to be one of the best emotional episodes ever! Great character development!

I love the way Ben is in sideways. He is good after all. I hope in future episodes he does get the job.
Now Sayid, I still wonder...I think he is one of the six candidates but is he still? Or is he bad now?
And where does Kate fit into everything?
I miss Sawyer! And I hope John isn't really dead.
So now we know Richard came on the slave ship the Black Rock,..as a slave it would seem.

I hope things do not turn out the way I think they are though: Jack is the new Jacob, Sawyer the new mib and sideways is the real life. I want to be wildly surprised, in a very happy way.

I'd love to think we witnessed Ben's redemption. I miss Sawyer too!

Loved the scene with Jack and Richard. A man of science becomes a man of faith.

And how does Ilana knowing everything figure into it? Who's coming besides Widmore? Where is Desmond?

I really hope they resolve the whole Desmond thing. I miss him too. And Daniel Faraday. I assume he is really dead, but who knows? I'd like to see him in sideways.
Perhaps Desmond is on the boat with Widmore.
Ilana is quite interesting. At first, I was indifferent to her but now it seems she knows all about the island AND Jacob wore black gloves when he visited her in the hospital. Was she the marshals (don't remember his name off hand) proxy on the return flight?
    Why is she so important?

I am still not sure about Jack yet! He has waffled constantly throughout the series even in light of strange, unexplainable things yet has been consistently dense.
I hope he finally gets it now but I doubt it.

Unless the writing is so off that in one event (the lighthouse mirror) his whole perspective has changed.
I would have preferred a more subtle (ie realistic) change.

And I love Hurley in sideways! Finally rich and Happy!

I love Hurley period! Almost teared up when he and Sun were running to each others arms. ;)

I'm so not in the loop~no Lost OR Survivor! It's Desperate Housewives, Housewives of OC/Atlanta/NY, Horders, The Bachelor, and other nonsense that seems to draw me in. I'm so shallow! ;o)

I'll be kind of disappointed if it comes down to good vs. evil. I would love it if the man in black and Jacob were playing some kind of epic chess game with all the people they brought to the island as their chess pieces. Why couldn't the MIB kill Jacob himself? Because a king can't kill a king? I don't see everything that Jacob has done as being purely good. He has brought people to the island against their will, and made the same kind of deals that the MIB has made. Thought he hasn't wreaked the same kind of death and destruction as the smoke monster/MIB.

That doesn't bother me although when I read on boards how people think the mib isn't evil, now that I don't get. How clear does it have to be? He, the mib, has been killing for centuries. Jacob, while using people for a purpose, hasn't been wiping them out indiscriminately.
I don't think all the questions will be answered either. The numbers, for instance.
