I can't find my favorite candle smell --

I probably put on more miles that I care to looking for Balsam Fir.This smell has such a sentimental meaning to me - it can't be put into words. Does anyone here make candles in that scent ? One year - I got potpourri in that smell and I was on cloud 9 !!! If you have some - or know of a store that has it - could you let me know ? :)

I am a Home Interiors consultant and we have Balsam Pine in our line this year, which sounds pretty close to what you're looking for. Email me cgn53@verizon.net if interested.

Incase you have not found what you are looking for, you can buy the scent in a candle makeing store, save on scents.com has just about every scent you could want, you can use the scent on artificial pine, put pine in a brown bag add a little scent shake it some and let it set in bag closed up till dry, I do this with the pine I use in my baskets to give them a nice scent, be carefull not to just lay the scented pine on wood or anything else as the oil could stain. another idea if you buy the scent is to use the water crystals and make some , I think its called smelly gel or something like that,if you put the smelly gel in somekind of burner with heat you can smell the scent real well, I have a small electric crock that I put mine in realy smells up the house nice.

Yankee Candle Co has a Balsom Fir candle that they make. You can also check out ebay too for this candle too.

Yankee did do Balsam Fir - but they don't anymore. It is Balsam and Cedar now and it isn't the same. I really liked the Balsam Fir - it really smelled like a Christmas Tree.

You can still get some on eBay, but they are no longer in production.

If you just want the aroma, and don't necessarily need it in candle form, check the link below. It is to a website that lists fragrances for soaps and candles, grouped by TYPE of fragrance. The link is to the B scents, but see the note that Balsam (and Balsam Fir) can also be found under these scent categories: Cranberry Balsam  Cranberry Balsam (type)  Fir Balsam  Mistletoe & Balsam  Northwoods Balsam Pine  Windsong Balsam Pine.

Hope you find the fragrance that you remember. That scent is special to me, too. Do you remember the "balsam pillows"? I used to keep one under my pillow when I was a kid. Delightful to sniff!

Try GAP clothing store...at Christmas they sell candles that smell just like a fir tree!!!

Great suggestions. I was at the Yankee Candle store today and they DID discontue the Balsam fir. I'm trying a small balsam & cedar -- it's not the same ~~~~~ *sigh*

    toomuchglas,
I used to get this one candle at Pier 1 years and years ago, it had that smell like I got to have it. They don't make it anymore. I saved a small piece of it, but never came across that smell anywhere! Funny, I don't remember what it was called...I do remember the color, it was a real dark teal color.
