Check the cable box, the audio may be turned off there.

Thanks for the response Pee Wee. I completely disconnected the cable box and still have no sound on the TV. Even when using the standard reception and getting static stations, there is no sound. Does the TV have a sound tuner/card like a computer can? I'm wondering if there is a method of holding down buttons to reset the original default setup. Any ideas anyone?

Is the sound COMPLETELY DEAD, or do you hear noise or static from the speakers?

If you hear no sound/noise from the speakers, then the speakers MAY be turned off internally. There should be an audio set-up on the on screen menu. Look for a listing: Speaker - off - on.

Dear Pee Wee,
I have a Magnavox 32" older model. It has great picture and has always played great. One day the sound wouldn't come on.
I can hook it up to and aux. source and get sound but the TV won't put out on its own. any idea?

Make sure that "Stereo" is selected on the "On screen menu". If you have "SAP" selected, you will not have sound from the tv station.
