Thought I'd share my day with you

My friend and I spent the afternoon viewing Cherry Blossoms in a small neighborhood near DC. We came upon it quite by accident and had a marvelous time meandering through the streets. Couldn't believe all the people walking among the blossoms. Of course the homes were magnificent and each one was different. Would love to move in one of these babies.

After our walk we headed to Georgetown Cupcakes AKA DC Cupcakes as seen on TLC. For lunch we headed to one of Guy's joints for lunch. He's on Diners Drive ins and Dives.

Sorry there are so many but they are all so beautiful.

How beautiful The Yoshino Cherry trees are already finished here. They are breathtaking. I don't know those restaurants but I bet you had a fun time. Thanks for sharing the pretties. c

So pretty! Thanks for sharing. It gives me hope that this dreary weather here will soon be just a chilly memory:)

Is that Kenwood? I remember the spring ritual of driving through there slowly, looking up through the trees that arch over the street so far they meet...some of those don't look as old as they must be to have been street-connected 40 years ago, though...maybe it's not Kenwood?

And the azalea festival at Landon must be coming up soon, too : ) If they're still having that, the azaleas and rhodies are *phenomenal*, and probably even more so now.

Thank you, from the bottom of my Midwestern heart, in the year of the Winter that Will Not End. Just beautiful! (I could so live in one of those houses, lol.)

Now that's my idea of a perfect day!

It reminds me of Kenwood too. Sooo beautiful! I enjoy that area more for cherry blossum watching than the Tidal Basin because you also get to look at the houses.

Beautiful!! Moonshadow, I just heard we're getting more snow tomorrow night. I'm soooo sick of winter too. There is over 50' of snow just up the hill. ENOUGH!!

Too funny Denali- I was probably within a couple of miles of you yesterday- and today too if you were in DC today again. I was on Wisconsin Ave in Bethesda for a 2 day seminar. The weather yesterday was so perfect and todays so blecch.

flyleft and graywings, Yes indeed it is Kenwood. I've lived here(I'm inVA) for 35 years and had never know about the Kenwood Cherry Blossoms. I pass by there when I frequent my favorite bookstore, Politics and Prose but never drive through there. I just happened to take the wrong turn.
cooperbaily, yes the weather was wonderful on Mon and turned winter again today. Yes, I was actually on Wisconsin Ave yesterday too.

Flyleft, I looked up the Azalea Festival at Landon and it is on April 29,30 and May1. I'm so going to be there.

Most of the trees are very old but a lot of them have been damaged. You can see where huge limbs have broken off. I think people keep replacing them that's why some don't look as old.

Moonshadow, if you want to move in there was one house for sale. It'll cost you though 2.1 million!

Sue! I thought you were supposed to be laying on your arse...not whiffing cherries on exotic boondoggles....

igloo- got crutches- and was at a business conference- didnt go out to the cherry blossoms. did go out to the plumblossom restaurant- via wheelchair. LOL quite a procession of us folks walking to the restaurant. I was the only sober one on the way back. LOL

I visited Kenwood with house guests twice in the last week--I live in an adjacent neighborhood. It is a lovely place. I walk to Landon's azalea festival every year, too, and inevitably buy some plants for my garden, an annual ritual.

Spring is off to a slow start here in the DC area, though--it is still chilly and tomorrow the temperatures are supposed to plummet again.

so you folks that live in that area- if you are driving on woodmont and you see some lady on crutches- that is probably me- next Tues and Weds! so honk!

    Cooper-
    I WISH I could honk @ you!!
I'd LOVE to get out East again.
Good Lord...it's been since 1978...on a HS field-trip to Washington DC. Loooooved the Cherry-blossoms, monuments, and especially Mount Vernon. Fond memories of that trip!

If I won a bunch of money, my next house would be modeled after MV. Something about that back "porch" and the river-bend just stirs my soul! The sense of history helps too!

    Denali-
Thanks for those BEAUTIFUL pix! Yes, I could stand to live there!
