? about downloading tv episodes to watch on your computer

I've been catching up on episodes of "Doc Martin."

I had Tivo'd some of them, and then went to Hulu to watch the rest.

But Hulu doesn't have the most recent season (#4).

Netflix has it, but I don't really want to get locked into a monthly-fee program because I don't watch enough to make it worth my while. (I've done a trial for free and they've sent emails trying to get me to do it again--so that's one option, I guess).

The iTunes store doesn't have season 4.

That leaves Amazon.

Or are there other websites I'm overlooking?

Try your library. Mine has all kinds of movies and TV shows available on dvd and they are pretty good about keeping up with the latest releases. I can go on line to the library website, log on with my card number, and reserve whatever I want. They will transfer it to my local branch and notify me via email when it comes in.

I've purchased episodes on Amazon for viewing on my computer. I don't know if they would have the current season, but it's worth a try.

Gads, we love Doc Martin. Am pleased to hear someone else is watching.

Try IlovemyTV.com, Blinkx, and YouTube. Youtube has all of the seasons. You need to watch in 15 min increments there.

Also run a search on "Doc Martin streaming". Other links will show up. Sometimes IMB will give links for watching.

We dumped sat TV and are perfectly happy to watch anything that shows up on all stations through the PC to big TV. Will never go back. Can't remember another link that has the 2011 movies too. Once you get the hang of it there are plenty of options.

Netflix was worth a month or two for 10.00 if you want to just sit down and watch.

Enjoy, he is great and so is the show. New episodes are coming in Sept. They are filming now.

An update: Watched some of the Season 4 episodes on YouTube. Yeah, those 15-minute increments are kind of annoying, but for free (well, beyond what we pay for general Internet access!), I'll take them and be happy!

Emagineer: I'll be sure to bookmark the other sites you listed--thank you!

Another Doc Martin fan here! I was immensely disappointed when my local PBS station stopped running the show just last week. It had become one of the highlights of my weekend. (That and Outnumbered, another Brit-com that I absolutely adore!) I'm not sure exactly where in the series I came in when I began watching (I started watching in earnest about the time I decided to visit Cornwall next year), but I know there's quite a bit I haven't seen. I'll definitely be checking the sources mentioned here. Thanks!

I just signed up for Netflix after not subscribing for several years, and I see that they have Doc Martin available for instant streaming. I haven't heard of the show before, but it sounds like it might just be up my and DH's alley.

My fellow DM fans probably already know this, but the fictional Port Wenn is actually the lovely coastal Cornish village of Port Isaac. Martin's surgery is actually a beautiful old fisherman's cottage called Fern Cottage and when filming is not underway, it's a holiday rental. I actually inquired about pricing before I booked the cottage where we'll be staying next year, and just about fell over dead when I received the response that even in chilly March, the cottage goes for 2000 GBP per week!

Here is a link that might be useful: Fern Cottage - Pretty pics in Gallery!

After watching the first episode of Doc Martin I can certainly see why you want to visit Cornwall Jen. Beautiful country!

    AuntJen,
How many does Fern Cottage sleep? What if we all chipped in and met there? Wow, is it gorgeous.

I think that we have become hooked on Doc Martin. Our son was home last weekend and got Netflix set up on the wii for us. (we are using my older son's wii while he is away teaching in the Ukraine) I just love seeing that beautiful scenery (growing more jealous of AuntJen with every episode!)

THANKS for mentioning Doc Martin -- I'm 3/4 of the way through all the episodes on Netflix. I'm really enjoying this series. Doc reminds me quite a bit of someone close!

Just wanted to bring this thread back up to the top. We are almost through series 3 of Doc Martin. My DH and I have really been enjoying it! As soon as the music starts we just immerse ourselves in the small town life of Port Wenn. We watched the first series on Netflix, but they didn't have the second series available for streaming at that time, so we switched to Hulu. We will probably check out some of the other series that Hulu recommended based on our being Doc Martin fans.
I wasn't sure how we were going to watch series 4, so I checked on Netflix again, and they seem to have all 4 series available for streaming now.

We watch Doc Martin too, just started maybe a month ago. Very enjoyable show, I agree. We just jumped in on the current episodes. We get past seasons of Breaking Bad and Dexter from netflix, love those!
I would be interested to hear what series hulu recommends based on your being Doc Martin fans.

I'll have to check my Hulu account to see what the recommendations were. I remember that one was Green Wing. When you watch on Hulu there are very brief commercial interruptions, and occasionally one will be for a show that might be of interest. At that point while you can click "yes, this show interests me" or something like that. I don't always get to the computer in time to click the box, so not all of them have been saved for me. I do remember there was one show that has Stephen Fry in it.

And for anyone who is interested here's a link to a Holiday rental of "Louisa's" home.
