My friend uses evite a lot so I've used it as a guest 3 times; I loved it, loved seeing the comments and keeping up with the guest list. I thought the format was easy and pleasant to use.

One thing to think about, do any of the members have an issue with giving out their email address if need be and will it be shared with anyone, or if you send out a mass email to give them the link, are there concerns of someone else seeing their email addy if the original email doesn't get BCC'd to the recipients?

When I was volunteering for a local rose society, email addresses were private. Members didn't want anyone knowing their email address.

What I used to do was bring my laptop with me to meetings, I had a membership database on it. People were able to sign in on the actual sheet/print out, then I would enter everything while sitting there waiting for the meeting to start.

I've used evite at least once for send out invitations, and have had invitations sent to me numerous times from others via that site. I love it! I've sent and received from www.evite.com, and it's super easy to use.

Thanks for your comments! I'm putting together a draft/test invitation for an upcoming performance and will try it out on a few chorus members. I'm using evite, and so far it seems pretty straightforward. I am having a bit of trouble figuring out what the "reply style" settings do, but I'm sure that will be more obvious once I send the invitation and receive responses.

roselvr--We all share our email addresses already, so I don't think there are any privacy issues. We send each other mass email all the time, and we rarely use BCC. Our chorus is somewhat "closed" to outsiders; we don't communicate with the public through email (just through song!).

U, I can't answer your question, but do you sing in the chorus? If so, I'm so jealous! I can sit all day and listen to those kinds of singers!

Evite has an option where email addresses are not shown on the guest-list page, just names, and there's no mass email with a gazillion names on it - each guest gets an individual mailing. Evite can also nag remind guests who have not yet replied to their invitations. I have used it from both sides, as the inviter and the invited, and it's very easy for everyone.

You could also set up a Google Calendar that can be shared and accessed by everyone in addition. They don't need to have a Gmail address to use it.

oakleyok--Yes, I sing in the chorus. You should join a chorus in your area! They'll teach you how to sing. You don't even have to know how to read music. It's a lot of fun.

mari--The remind feature will be very useful for our performances. I'll be using it to "nag" those who haven't responded.

indeefixe--Does Google Calendar have the same kind of features? I really like being able to link to a map, see who has responded, and post comments.

I've used evite too; usually as a guest, but more recently as a host. I LOVE paper invitations, but sometimes I just do not have time to track everyone's responses and follow up with people who do not RSVP, and evite makes it really convenient, especially when I invite more than 10 people.

One thing that is nice about evite. It lets you (the "inviter") know when the invitation has been opened by the recipients.

I send out invites for my bunco group and use Pingg.com.I like the choices of invites, there's lots of pretty ones and I can see when someone has viewed the invite and get a daily RSVP update if I want.
