rosecea and mineral makeup

Does anyone know if mineral makeup is "okay" for sensative skin/rosecea?

And, what is the difference (if any) between mineral makeup at Sephora vs at Kohl's vs on tv only vs something at the drugstore?

Thanks everyone in advance. I haven't been able to wear makeup for about 7 years now, and I really want to try again, but am a little scared....my old makeup made my face burn, so I quit everything. :(

I don't have rosacea, but my skin tends towards redness, and even more so since my dermatologist prescribed Differin gel. I've started using the corrective mineral powder from Clinique's Redness Solutions line instead of foundation, and I'm quite pleased. It really helps to greatly tone down and camouflage my redness, and is specifically geared towards rosacea sufferers.

I use Bare Minerals. I cheaped out and bought some at Costco and it make my face break out. Someone here, maybe AuntJen, wisely said "If it isn't broke, why fix it." Well, she was right. I just wasted money instead of saving money. :(

I like Bare Minerals but Costco is the only other brand I have tried. Stay away from silica.

I just bought some Lancome mineral makeup based on reviews at Makeupalley.com and Sephora. I don't have any real life experience with it yet, but will let you know.

Print out Acne Detective to have with you shopping and you can read labels to check what is in each product against the guidlines of risk to irritate most skin. Very helpful! You can mark do's and dont's for your own skin for any products that touch your skin.

I recently picked up some from Physicians Formula because they had one that had a tiny amount of green and blue mixed in to neutralize the red. Unfortunately, like all powders it settled in every tiny line in my face. Normally I'm not self-conscious about them at all (DH says my crow's feet are cute because they mean I smile a lot, because the corners of my eyes crinkle when I smile... I love that!) but it seemed like the powder emphasized them! Powders also seem to really emphasize the texture of the bumps underneath, and if any areas have gone dry or my seborrheic dermatitis is flaring up (although that's much rarer since I started using Extina foam, thank goodness - it really sucked being Lizard Girl and Polka-Dot Girl at the same time!) the powder gets caught in the flaky/scaly parts.

I'm currently testing a range of tinted moisturizers but most of them are too orange. I really, really hate wearing makeup but we've had stuff going on lately where I really should. (I'm still looking for a waterproof mascara light enough for me - I don't want extending, thickening, or any of that, just a little darkening... the one I used to love was discontinued and I'll be d@mned if I'm going to pay $25 a tube on eBay.) I can't go to the makeup departments in department stores because of the fragrance counters right next to them - I get migraines even if I dose myself with something like Maxalt or Zomig before going into the store.
