howToRemoveFinishing Nails around perimeter of laminate flooring?

boyfriends friend installed our laminate flooring and then nailed down the perimeter using finishing nails (where the 1/4 round will go) . I have heard that this is bad to do because the floor is supposed to be able to move when it needs to contract and expand.Is there any way that we can remove the finishing nails without having to pry up the flooring that has been nailed down?

Using a nail set, drive 'em all the way through, putty the holes, and forget about it.
