Such fun- reviews of the Grand Budapset Hotel

oh drat - you can't edit the subject - now I've misspelled Budapest in bold lettering! ..... hanging my head in shame.......

People have been posting reviews of the Grand Budapest Hotel on Trip Adviser .......as if it really existed....the hotel that is, not the film.

Comments ranged from "past its prime" to "feels like a movie set".

Trip Adviser does advise that the hotel it fictitious but also invites readers to post reviews.

Here is a link that might be useful: Trip Advisor reviews

How much fun is that?! I love that Trip Advisor is going along with it. Thanks for sharing. I will go back and explore more later.

Lol, cute. I usually like quirky movies but this one didn't work for me. Still have some disturbing images, too. Yuck,

That is funny.,,,,there are probably some troll reviews by people who don't realize it is fictitious. DH and I were really looking forward to The Grand Budapest Hotel as we generally like Wes Anderson, but neither of us could stay awake for this one. It was tediously unfunny and the storyline just had no hook for us (or anyone I could imagine watching). I loved Moonrise Kingdom because all that imagination was in the service of a passable plot in a setting full of American archetypes and memes. Excessive style for its own sake is never successful------in any cultural art, not just movies.

kswl, my sentiments re: the movie, also. After 45 minutes we turned it off, it was going nowhere. I would have been happy to be entertained with absurd comedy but I just could not bear it anymore.

The reviews on TA are hysterical though !!

Can't remember the title properly but it had Marygold in it, a decrepit hotel in India, that was a good one, imo...

I remember that one mitchdesj. It was 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' IIRC. Thought it was a good one too and a great cast. Haven't watched Grand Budapest.

Yes, I agree with all of you about the movie, although there were moments I enjoyed. Overall, not so much. I do like some of the reviews, though!

We didn't like it nearly as much as expected either. DH and I love quirky, funny movies, and were really looking forward to seeing this one (saw it when it came out in theaters) but it wasn't nearly as entertaining as we thought it would be.

(We laughed like crazy through the movie Bad Words though :) )

I'm the odd one out I guess, I absolutely loved the movie. Best film I've seen in years (that said, I've probably seen all of five movies since my daughter was born ten years ago).

Love the trip advisor comments too. :)

It's funny that this post came up now " because I've had it on my iPad on incomplete for a while now and I was about to delete it when I decided to look it up in the New York Times .
New York Times give it a very good review which made me think I was missing something.
