cushioned vinyl floor tearing - earthscapes

Hi All,

Well, I sort of have a dilema and need some advice from the flooring experts on this forum.

We purchased a home in another city and (because we have 3 large dogs not "carpet friendly") replaced the family room carpeting with a cushioned Earthscape (by Balta) Sheet Vinyl. We had movers deliver some things to the house (2 hours away) who were let in by our local remodeling contractor. Among the items delived was a very heavy sofa bed on wheels. The movers placed it in the family room rather than the bedroom I'd requested. When my remodeler went to move it into the proper location today, he discovered that the sofa had created tears in the vinyl that will have to be patched. The sofa bed is very heavy, but on wheels and rolls VERY easily on our hardwood floors in the current house.

My question is, was this something we should have expected (assuming the flooring contractor had warned us in advance), or is this an indication of improper installation or faulty materials?

Thanks!

Anne
