Ebay question

I bought HP IPAQ pocket thing for one of DH's buddies through my ebay account. He paid us for it. The seller we bought from has 100% rating out of 333. After we purchased and I paid I noticed it says

"The item will be fully insured and a signature will be required at delivery" Sent USPS.

I was rather irritated because DH picked it out I figured he read EVERYTHING on the listing and didn't bother to do it myself other than checking his fb.

Got an email notice saying it was mailed the Sat. the 10th. They're in the same state and we still don't have it. DH was off Monday.

In the past when we received any mail that needed a signature it went to the post office and the mail lady left a little square card saying so.

I called the post office today and they had nothing.

My main question is....would it automatically go back to the seller if nobody was around to sign??

Should I contact the seller? I'm sure they're just going to say it was sent and there's nothing more they can do. They also don't accept returns. (not that I have the item to return anyhow!)

I know we should've read the listing better but that's neither here nor there now.

The post office isn't what it used to be so it could still be coming... You will certainly get a notice of attempted delivery with instructions on where to pick up your item. They don't send my things back until they have notified me again. I wouldn't worry that it's already been sent back.

I live on a Rural Route and none of my packages are ever delivered. I get an orange slip and wait in line at the post office.

Does the listing say the item was going to be shipped priority mail? There are many mailing options. Some take forever and a day. I might drop the seller a note and ask him how he shipped it. (Priority, First class, media, etc.).

    Yeah, that little orange slip!

It doesn't say priority. Just says standard shipping method. Hopefully it shows up sometime this week. I just figured since we were in the same state it wouldn't take that long to get here.

Still don't have it. I was hoping it would be here by today.

I emailed the seller last night. Didn't hear anything yet.

If I don't hear anything back or get a response basically saying,"I don't know what to tell you".. Should I file a claim through ebay?

I'm sure it's the postal service at fault but DH's friend is still out $85.00 and no gidgey gadget.

I'd go ahead and file with ebay. That should at least get the seller's attention and get you a response. If you don't receive the item, i.e., if the seller can't prove you received the item with a delivery confirmation, you will get your money back through ebay.

I'd wait 3 or 4 more days before filing. The package could have been mailed late Saturday with no delivery on Sundays. Adding up the possible delivery days for standard mail could put the package at 7 days. You'll probably get it today or tomorrow.

Delivery confirmation is not the same as insured with signature. It will take the po 3 times of mailing you a signature required card before it is returned to sender. Email sender and request the tracking number. Sounds fishy to me with the ebay seller. Don't back down. But don't wait to long to file with ebay either. Sometims these slimy sellers will make you wait till the expiration to file non recived goods and then you are stuck. Read the ebay rules and be knowledgeable. If insured, then they must have a tracking number.

How did you pay for it...if through your creditcard, call the card company and ask to have the charge removed....that ought get the seller's attention.
I did that once....and got an email the next day and my item very quickly!
No ebayer wants any negative feedback.

I missed this. I paid through paypal with my credit card.

The seller took a little longer than I'd like to get back to me but I'm assuming he waited until he visited the post office.

Got a message saying the box did not show received and he put a tracer on the box. Post master said to give it until Monday as there was an issue at the one post office and packages leaving their facility. He asked me to let him know if I didn't receive it so he could go back down.

Our mail lady made two trips yesterday for some odd reason and it arrived on the 2nd trip. Later in the day I received another email from the seller saying..

"I was at the post office again today, they were able to tell me the package was finally delivered at 12;08PM TODAY. They have also filed a complaint with the post master due to the package delay. I apologize for any delay of your receiving the item. It was awesome, but since I got my laptop and blackberry I didn't use it anymore. Enjoy"

The thing was sent out when he said and packaged well. I'm glad it arrived and he bothered to try and find something out vs. saying,"sorry, I mailed it and don't know what to tell you." I figured he wouldn't want his fb score harmed. I left him positive fb.

    Thanks guys!
