Hired a guy to do a shower stall...I think I'm being ripped off..

I hired a referred floor guy to do my shower stall...new construction over an acryllic base. He put 1/2" cement board over the studs. Did not tape the cement board seams. Did not put up a membrane. Used Laticrete mastic to hang the tile.

He hasn't grouted yet, and I'm considering stopping him now after researching his methods.

What should I do???

Was there greenboard over the studs before he installed the cement board?Either way he needed to tape seams and should have used thinset.But if there wasnt even greenboard behind there you will have problems from the get go.I would rip it out regardless.

'Ripped off' may be too strong a descriptive phrase to use here...the floor guy just may not know how this type of job is done.

The main job killer here is that no moisture barrier was included. Neither behind the CBU using poly nor applied on top with a liquid membrane. Showers need one or the other.

Not the best way...but you could grout it all with an epoxy grout and hope for the best.
