Any recommendations for a new gas bar B Q

I am in the market for a new gas bar b q .
I need a good size surface for grilling for guests but I do not want to spend the 1000.00 that some are priced at.
Any good suggestions

I have a Weber Genesis that was about 700 or so new, 8 years ago. I bought it at Home Depot but I see them at Lowes now for about the same price. Hopefully the quality is still the same.
The customer service of Weber is superb and the grill works great- I can get a consistent 250 degrees for smoking. I would get another without question.
Weber has a ten year warranty on interior parts and they replaced last year for free, the burner bars.

We bought a Weber Genesis in the spring. This one has a side burner and stainless steel grates. Our last grill lasted 20+ years. This one heats up fast and works great. I am glad we got the stainless grates. They are so much easier to work with - and easy to clean. The total cost at Lowes was $900+. You can save a couple hundred if you pass on the stainless grates and side burner. You can also save 5% if you get a Lowes credit card.

Weber genesis here, too. When our last weber finally bit the dust I thought I would try to find something with a bit more oomph, like a Dacor. But they were much too big for our grilling deck (just off the kitchen) and about three times more expensive. At some point I realized I was trying to fix something that wasn't broken in the least, probably just being influenced by the pull of "better," and bought another Weber.

Weber Genesis user here too. I love it. I tried a small Char Broil at the lake and it's now gone and replaced by a small Weber I found on sale at the end of the summer last year. Love it too.

    Bumblebees,shuffles,kswl,outside,

Well seems like weber genesis is the way to go.
    Thanks for your input.
I will take a closer look at them.

I never use the side burner btw. It doesn't get hot enough for me and ehh, I'm not a grilling aficionado.

Our first Weber had a side burner and we only used it once in about a decade. Didn't get it on the second one and haven't missed it.

We had a Weber that lasted for well over a decade. When we had to replace it we bought a Char-broil from Home Depot. DH wanted a bigger grill and we just couldn't justify paying $1900 for the next size Weber.

We've had the Char-broil for four years and so far so good. We live in a mild climate and the grill is on a covered porch.

I use the side burner often. Not for grilling, I use it to cook food that doesn't smell that great. Indian, Mexican, cabbage, etc.

Besides "Paint, etc.", I've been able to get into our BBQ area more the last couple years....

I've learned tons about the Weber "Universe" of grills. Also, we are an approved dealer of "Big-Green Eggs" now too (since June 2013)! Traegers do ok here too.

The Weber Spirit & Genesis lines are very popular. Independent retailers like us get the "Special-Edition" Genesis series. These have the S/S Flavorizer-bars, AND S/S main cooking-grates. They run a $100 more than the big-box versions....BUT....to convert their grill to a S-E, you'd have to spend $150+. We usually get the sale when we tell customers that!

Selling Webers is so fun, because of their stellar reputation! Many people I sell to are buying a new one because they've given their 10-15-20y/o Weber to family, & are buying another one!
Last week, I sold a $2500 Weber Summit S-670 to someone who was thrilled to get it! I've sold a few Summits (starting @ $1,499) to Canadians who say they can't get Summits up there.

Check out the awesome Summit linked below!

Thank you for your opinion on the weber.
I am from canada and the prices are very high.
Do you gave any opinion on the broil king, is it at all in the same league.
    Thanks

Does anyone here own the Napoleon P500RSIBPSS Prestige? I'm interested in that particular model because you can use it as either a charcoal grill or gas. I'm not sure that I would use the charcoal option very often but I like the idea that if I'm caught mid grilling with gas run-out I have a charcoal backup plan.

Edited due to wrong Item number.
Edited again because its been so long since I used charcoal I forgot I'd have to wait twenty minutes. Still, I like this option.

Weber charcoal kettle grill here.$150. Food tastes better.

    :-)

    But not that much better.

I have both, use them both equally and in all seriousness, the food on the gas grill tastes the same.

    My conclusions:
Food that is very quickly cooked ( most steak, shrimp, fish, chicken breasts) will taste about the same on either grill.
Large hunks of meat, i.e. leg of lamb, roasts, whole chickens, pork butts,.. will taste much better on charcoal.

We have both and mostly use the charcoal grill ($50ish old fashioned Weber!) but use gas for things like fish and chicken. Dh prefers charcoal and loves to use it for smoking a pork butt all day. However, he's planning to get a dedicated smoker for that. Gas grill could use replacement so I'll have to look at the genesis that was mentioned here.

If anyone has a smoker, I'd love some recommendations.

Fourkids, you can supposedly smoke as well in the Napoleon I mentioned above. However, although the few reviews are good there was not much mention of the features except the propane or gas grilling part. So, hopefully someone here has that model number and will chime in.

Interesting. We need to replace our old Weber kettle grill and not sure what we want. We like the charcoal but will grill a lot at the same time and then refreeze. It's hard to do the charcoal in the summer when it's rainy or super hot and humid.

I will have DH look at the other Webers. We almost pulled the trigger on the BGE this spring since they were offering free accessories with it. Hoping there is maybe a fall sale.

We're suggesting to customers that they use the "Wood lump" charcoal in their Kettles! Better wood flavor, & less ash than normal charcoal. Wood lump is what the BGE uses. Food from the BGE is SOOOOO good!! Moisture is held in so well. Eggs aint cheap, but if you're into food....:-)

    Lyban- I "HAD" a Broil-King....;-)

I'll soon be getting my Weber 330, with full Stainless innards obviously. Nice burgundy color!
