Heat pumps - Did u know about that?

Hi folks. I have recently heard about a technique to save the heat lost on land by extracting it with the help of heat pumps.

This is installed in underground of places like gardens or play grounds where we cannot place a solar panel.

This is an excellent technique to save a lot of heat energy that is getting lost. Do anyone know about this technique more? How are you feeling about his new technique?

Are you talking a ground-source heat pump? It's nothing new... many have talked about and installed them.

If your speaking of geothermal, take it slow and become informed. Do a google search with geothermal heat pump and go to one of several good geothermal blog sites. The rebates do not always make up for the added hasle these systems can bring. Because the popularity is expanding, there can be a vaccum of qualified installers. As with most systems, the installer is more important than the hardware. I have used geothermal for more than 35 years and can see why it is not appropriate for everyone and all situations. The hardware has made significant progress in the last five years but, there are lots of untrained slick talkers ready to take your money and run.

I won't have anything but geothermal but, I am a DIY person that can deal with things the average person would puke over.

grifzila, are you aware of any geothermal systems that can use seawater (other than the ones designed for installation on boats)? If we build on our undeveloped land, we have a saltwater bay at the back door which is an essentially infinite heat source/sink. Also, please recommend some "good geothermal blog sites." Thanks!
