What can be used for the shower floor that will not be so cold as tile or marble here in the North Country?

You could add a thick rubber mat to the shower to get your feet off the tile:
Flowers Bath Mat · More Info

Dance Steps Bath Mat · More Info

Or a wooden mat:
Bath Mat · More Info

But if the room is well heated and the shower water is hot, the floor should not be cold for long.
