30' cabinet 30' sink

I told my KD I wanted a 30" sink as one of my first requirements. He made my sink cabinets 30" wide. I went to the grantie place yesterday and the 30" undermount sink won't fit in the cabinet because it would need 31 1/2".

I thought he should have know that.

But anyway, does anyone have a close to 30" sink in a 30" sink cabinet?

I started searching and found a sink that I thought would fit on Elkay since outside width was 29, but it said it requred a 36" cabinet (I think because of the drain on the side). I'll keep looking - but if anyone has already had success it would save me time.

I have the Kohler Bakersfield, it was the largest sink I could find that would fit in a 30" base. It fits like a glove, as a matter of fact, when they insatlled the sink they had to notch out the frame of the cabinet a bit. Usually the sink sits on clips or a metal frame but the my sink sits on the frame of the cabinet. I looked for a SS sink but couldn't find one as large as the Bakersfield to fit in a 30" base.

There are some Ticor and Whitehaus sinks that are around 28 inches. You'll have to find a granite fabricator who is willing to scoop out the top of your cabinet to accommodate the sink. It is possible, but not standard by any means. This is something your KD should have told you.

I have a 30" undermount sink in a 30" base. DH notched out the sides, see pic below. The sink is Linea Aqua "Vienna".
The The sink's overall dimensions are 30"x18" and the inside (or bowl) dimensions are 28" x 16".

After taking this pic, the other side was notched out.

In the 3 posts above we have been told or shown how the cabinet (wood) can be cut to let a sink sit on a shape cut out to fit the sink.

When a manufacturer writes that you need a 36" wide cabinet for their sink, they are thinking of an install using clips -- which means it is an easier task to replace it later with another one of the same shape.

Although that thinking is one way to decide what the right size of cabinet is for each sink, it is not the only way. Is your sink 30" wide outside, shannonskitchen ? How much cutting and reinforcing the cabinet needs to be done to accommodate your sink?

Yes the cabinet is 30" on the outside.

What if you ever have to replace your sink? Once the granite is on, it would be very hard to replace. Wouldn't that be a problem? I am running into this same dilemma. I have a 33 inch sink base and if I subtract the walls, it's 30.5 inches and most sinks are just a bit bigger. I don't want to run into a problem if I ever have to replace the sink. I would love to find a 30" wide sink but I am finding there aren't many that size.
