Installers sitting in my driveway.....help!

I wish I had found this forum sooner. Here's where we're at. We ordered an 80/20 split SS sink with brushed finish. They are here to install my granite and they have the wrong sink and have cut the hole for the wrong sink! The sink they brought us and cut the hole for is a 70/30 or 60/40 (not sure) and it is polished finish on the top which will get scratched and ugly over time. They are sitting in our driveway waiting for their boss. Any suggestions???

I guess it come down to whether or not you want to settle! If you are OK with the wrong sink, ask for a price reduction, or at least the 70/30 in a brushed finish OR BOTH!!!
If you don't want to settle.........it's their error. Tell them to take it away and bring back what you ordered.

The price you pay for a granite counter and sink is too much to settle for less than what you want.

Tell them to take away what they brought and bring what you ordered.

Please do not settle for a patched counter top, it will always look like a mistake and will be weak.

Take a deep breath... What has the shop manager offered to do to rectify their mistake?

Thanks so much for your suggestions. The owner came and was eager to give us several options, including us getting a whole new slab of granite to put the right sink in. What it came down to though is that I love this slab so much I wasn't willing to give it up for the "right" sink. He brought several other sinks with him. One is the 70/30 in brushed finish and is 3 times the cost because it is 16 guage ss, plus it is about 2" deeper. I'm giving up 3" in width but gaining a little in depth and getting a much better quality sink. And, I'm good with that. The had to take the slab back to the shop to cut a new hole because this sink is bigger. I just hope they don't screw this up! In the end he eats the cost difference in the sinks but I suppose he also is going to have to pay his guys (2) for the hours they were here but didn't get any work done. I think he will be more careful next time.

Good to hear it worked out well.

The kitchen gods were kind today!

Be sure to post pics later when the granite DOES get installed!

Ok I assume you know the bigger sink WILL fit in the sink cabinet for it as well?

I think it's fine if he eats the costs if you come away being a happy customer. People do make mistakes but if they are working with you then you are more apt to recommend them. Can't wait to see pics!

    I'm glad to hear you didn't settle : )

Hope it all works out - but I would echo what Mccall has said - will the sink fit the cabinet??

AHHHHHHH! Flyleft, I am seriously laughing so hard!!!! (I've gotta keep laughing!)

tlc: I'm so glad it worked out for you. I guess the kitchen gods couldn't be in 2 places at once today, so they went to your house instead!

OMG - y'all are KILLING ME today! I almost fell off my seat I was so surprised at FlyLeft's jab! TOO FUNNY!

As to your sink, I am very glad it worked out for you. It helps all of us keep the faith that there are stand up guys (and gals) out there in the construction business world! YEA! Can't wait to see the finished product!

Hubby says that he checked and it will fit the cabinet. I'll post some before and after pics when we're done. Is there a specific place for that? I saw on another post "FKB" what does that stand for? New here, lots to learn....LOL

Agree the fabricator is a "Pro", but for next time everybody: the granite guys have to have your sink before they even start cutting the slabs!!! That way they bring the countertop with the sink attached already no problem at all!! Happy it worked good! Picture please?? ;)

Orlando - You are responding to a 2008 post. I.e., 9 years old.

While it's beneficial to look at the collective wisdom of this great website, calling up 9 year old threads for no reason is not. People are posting current questions now, and when a past post is brought back just "because"....it pushes those new posts down the page where they might not be seen and answered.

    Thanks!
