    Forgot to add that:
Wish you all a wonderful 2008 and may all your dream remodels come true this year!!!

It has been a wonderful learning experience hanging out on this forum and site. Thanks a lot to the whole community for their generosity in sharing their knowledge and valuable experience.

It's kind of hard to tell from your photo, but is this it?

Homeybird, I'd almost bet on it being santa cecilia:

I dont know what it is, but I dont think it is santa cecelia, since it seems to have a lot more movement then santa cecelia. It almost looks a bit like delerium, but not as dark. Or like one of the juperana types.

I leaned toward Santa C. as well, but after a second look it seemed that some of the whiter spots were a lot larger than I have seen in Santa C. Possibly giallo ornamental?

I'm thinking Kodiak or Desert Amarillo.

i agree it has too much movement/"big spots" for s. ceceilia. seems to have almost a greenish cast, but that could be the lighting..or my monitor! reminds me of the arctic cream and moon white patterns i saw when i was looking.

I brought up the first link in another browser, and kept going back and forth between that and the pic I posted above, and couldn't see any difference. The second pic is a different story, though.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Sorry, I thought both the pix were the same granite; and I was really intrigued by the first picture.

I will check all of the names mentioned here. Thanks again for the help!!

BTW, the kitchen/granite pix posted here are beautiful. If I do not find an exact match, I got clues on other varieties to achieve similar effect.

Check the thread a few below this one!! I believe it's Lisa__sandiego's. She posted a picture of her sink with a black faucet and it looks just like hers. I'm pretty sure that's the one. The thread is called "help picking out a sink", I think.

Lisa, if that's yours, would you let us know your granite name...

Just wanted to let you know that I posted on the "sink" thread to let Lisa know you were looking for her granite name. Her kitchen is gorgeous!!

    Good luck!!

    Thanks gng,
I'm really pleased with it. It's called Amarillo Gold. Similar to Desert Amarillo and Kodiak, but less amber color. It's been in a month. I'm pretty sure the original post is one of these. Below shows some of the big spots.

The one in the original picture looks familiar, I think it's got a lot more green - sort of a light green/grey/taupe.

Search for "gauguin", "tropical fashion", or just "fashion" granite. There's a lot of variation in this type and depending on how it's cut.

Hi Lisa - thanks for the follow up!! These Forums are awesome for this kind of thing. The funny part, when I read this thread, I closed it because I didn't know the answer. Right after, I saw pics on the other thread, with your kitchen. Figure that one, will ya!!

    Thanks again.

I know what you mean. I found this site when building our pool a couple years ago. I wish I had known about it before the dig started.

It could be Magic White, also known as Delicatus White. I have it in my kitchen. It does have a overall slightly greenish cast to it.

Thanks everyone once again! I indeed appreciate your helpful posts. Thanks for gneegirl; who actually created a new thread asking for the specific granite !! Thanks soooo very much! I feel really lucky that I have found this wonderful forum and community of supportive folks.

All of the different granite & marble in my house was picked by walking through the marble yard and selecting the slabs I wanted. They are numbered on the side so that you can get successive cuts of the same color which will go together when you need 2 slabs for the same room. There are lots of different whites/or creams with movement of different color. You need to look at the slab to be certain it doesn't look soft in spots or have too much fill.
I have blue sodalite on my fireplace and without seeing the whole slab I don't know that I would have picked it.
When you buy from a small sample its like buying fabric with a big pattern after seeing just a few inches.
I took photos in the marble yard and if I could figure out how to post them you would see what I mean.

homey_bird - yeah, these forums rock! But, so many people have helped me here on Kitchens, as well as on Appliance, Laundry, etc. I'm even on SLF most every night, just to vent. I have pointed so many to GW and even many pros take what we have to say very seriously. I was just tickled to see the exact kitchen you were looking for right after I read this post.

One thing - follow Marge's advice. I can't tell you the number of samples I have in every spare place in my house. Everytime I saw something that would work, I brought it home and OMG, it was the worst thing I'd chosen so far. I even took a piece of my cabinet with me to the stone yard, and that still didn't work. A lot has to do with lighting, even that from the sun at different times of the day. The fabricator I'm working with now offers 1ft square samples and that has made it a lot easier. I stayed with with because of that and other details they provide, even though they ended up being higher than others I spoken with. I've worn out my welcome with most of my family and friends, but it will be worth it soon. My install is next Friday!!!

    good luck on your kitchen.

I have been looking for granite for our kitchen in a new house we are having built and love this granite called "Desert Amarillo" from Arizona Tile. I don't know of that is the one shown in the HGTV site you sent but it looks similar. I was wondering if getting in contact with the designer Dave Stimmel could get you the name of that granite. I too love that looks of that granite. Maybe you can get in contact with him so that we don't all bombard him with the same question. His contact info is:

    Rosetroi-

AZT's "Desert Amarillo" is also known by other distributors
as "Giallo Beach" - there's probably other names as well
but ... Desert Amarillo has been around here in the Arizona
market since around 1995 - or some where around that time -
I remember when it first hit the market here - it and another
color - "Colonial Dream" were all the rage for a long time...

I want to use Desert Amarillo in my own home...somewhere..
    soon......

    hope that helps

I emailed Mr. Stimmel and his response was "geallo classico- from ohm international in NJ".

Wow! Thanks everyone. I am amazed that I got an exact response on this forum. This forum rocks! Many many many thanks to all who replied!!! And special thanks to rosetroi for getting me info from the horse's mouth!

I am hoping to be in the same position as all the knowledgeable folks out here, someday.

    Thanks again!!

homey_bird, I know it has been awhile since you've posted. I'll tell you, the granite in the photos that you shared the link to really looks a lot like my granite.

They call it Fleur De Lis here and I can't find it online anywhere, so I'm sure it has a different common name. The white in this granite is not bright white, by any means. It's a soft, creamy white. I think the lights sometimes make it look colder. It actually looks warmer like the links in your photos above.
