2 island kitchen--Help if you have this

does anyone have 2 island within their kitchen. We are planning on having an open great room and kitchen area.

We are going to have 2 island. First island next to the open great room will be 7 feet long with seating & a small sink. The one closes to stove will be 9 feet long and about 48" wide. They will be side by side with 40 and 42" between them It will have the working sink and dishwasher and maybe have seating on one end?? (i have to talk to cabinet people to get better idea of how I should do this)...but wanted to know if anyone else has this set up? Our kitchen is approx. 17 x15. If so can you post pictures.

We are doing dual islands - one for prep (sink, compactor, dishwasher), one for entertaining/serving. Still in design phase so can't help my own pics.

Although this is not a true second island, this was my inspiration to add a second island (we will have an open plan with a nook and a formal dining room):

My cooking wall (range, fridge, ovens) will run as long as the islands not like in the second picture.

If you go for 3 islands you get the extra zen effect though.

We're doing the same thing, similar to the photos posted by Michelle. Our contractor says we will be ready to move in by the middle of February. So I can't tell you yet, how much I like the two-island kitchen/open living thing.

Hey,

We are also having double islands. We are also under construction with the old kitchen having been partly demolished, but no new kitchen in sight. If you want to see our double island plan, do a Google search using the words: "double island bad shape and gardenweb" and you should find our post. We have chosen to do the very last option at the bottom of the post with curves in both the top and bottom island. Of course, we haven't ordered the cabinets yet, so still time for changes.

We are doing two islands as well. Main working island is 3.5' X 10 and the second for entertaining/breakfast is 4' x 6.5' they will run in a T format with 4' clearance space between. My designer will have a layout for me in the next day or so and I will post for sharing. Good Luck!
