Miele Dryer 9800 - Help with wiring question

We had our electrician install a four prong outlet. Cannot get the dryer to work. It is four prongs and three wire. The local company that sold us the dryer claims it needs four wires; the electrician says he read the instructions and that it does not need four wires.

Can anyone help? Need to figure out if it's the electrician or if the dryer is just not working. Cannot do any laundry in the meantime, which is driving me batty!!!

The newer Dryers use a 4 prong outlet & plug.

If it's a 4 prong outlet, it should have a 4 prong plug with 4 wires...

Ther dryer could possibly work with 3 wires, but wouldn't be up to electrical codes.

Get a different electrician.

According to the manual, the dryer comes with the correct four-wire cord and four-prong plug. Your electrician clearly did not read the instructions and probably used the wrong cord.

Clarification: the outlet could have 3 wires if he uses metal conduit pipe (all the way to the breaker box) for the (4th connection ground) to run the 3 wires
