Part 2, sofa, chairs & fabric choices! *New Pic's*

I started a part 2, because

the other thread had too many pictures and became a mumble jumble!

Jejvtr...

yes, my head has been spinning, but thanks to the great people here, it is

starting to slow

down!

Thank you for the link to Lee Furniture. I am ordering

a couple sample fabric swatches. There really isn't a local dealer nearby,

which makes it a bit more difficult.

So far, I decided to forego

the loveseat, and take the advise of 2

chairs and an accent chair. (Thank you for the suggestion!!)

My sofa choices currently are:

{{gwi:1543626}}

and this new one :

{{gwi:1543628}}

CHAIRS:

This is a little more difficult as I am not sure which would complement either

sofa the best. I really like this chair, but would have to use Fabric #2, my

second choice of

fabrics

#6

(which I think I favor)

{{gwi:1543632}} #2 Fabric, not my favorite,

but still

a
pretty

fabric.

Other possible chairs that could be used with fabric #1

{{gwi:1543634}}

#4 & #5 from original post

{{gwi:1543636}}#4

{{gwi:1543638}}#5

and

the following NEW chair options

{{gwi:1543639}} #7

{{gwi:1543641}} #8

{{gwi:1543643}} #9

{{gwi:1543645}} #10

{{gwi:1543647}} #11

Â

floor layouts, which I

think got lost in the long previous thread - as no one made any comments

regarding these.

Thanks again everyone for helping me with these choices! I promise to post

a finish picture once everything is done!

You can use the armless chair as your accent chair since it is so different.

I really like the lines of #10. I would use a less busy fabric on that one. There is nothing wrong with using 2 chairs with ottomans, if you have the space. It's what I did and love them. The room is for comfort. They are positioned in the room to face the TV. We don't even sit on the sofa.

JMHO. I seem to see things a little differently here.

I'm not seeing a second sofa, just another chair and then an x for the first chair choice.

I like layout #2 with the three chairs. I like the idea of having the two club chairs - I like #8 of the new chair choices for the two chairs side by side. Then I like either #10 or #5 as the accent chair. I like the other ones, but don't know if I like the fancy hump on the top of some of them with the straight lines of the sofa. Also #11 is too ornate I think. I am not as fond of the #2 paisley fabric as I am of #1. Maybe you could do the two club chairs in a medium coppery fabric to pull in that color?

What manufacturer are you looking at? Some of those look like King Hickory chairs. I ordered this chair in a different fabric and without the nailhead trim. It reminds me of your sofa a bit.

    Tinker
Running out.... but here's what i see

1st I like your arrangement in your last pic - 2 chairs flanking fp (perhaps that is because i have that arrangement)
Are you sitting in the sofa/chairs before ordering?

Ok on the chairs - **this is fr. one dimensional viewpt
    - "new" chair - looks out of scale - skinny back - big fat bottom cushion

4&5 "work" but I'd like to know how well made/comfy they are

#7 again looks out of proportion to me (fabric/one dimension not sure) but looks like skinny seat, skinny arms - fatter on the roll back (make any sense?)

#8 I really like! ummm that's probably because the look exactly like mine - however proportionately they work - arms, back, seat

#9 seems to suffer fr. same as #7 skinny back fat bottom, fat ottoman cushion - then again "fat bottom girls, make the rock in world go round!"

10 & 11 "work" not my favs/taste - I'd want to know esp the comfort of them

    Good luck Tinker
    I'll ck in later!
Oh, if you want pics let me know

I love the 30448 fabric. As for the chairs, they are all pretty. Difficult for me to give advice on that.

I agree with brutus on the fabric. I love the paisley, but keep in mind it is a smaller scale and may give a "muddy" look from far away. I personally like to see paisley used on smaller scale items, like pillows or dining room chairs.

I like the furniture arrangement in the last pic. It seems that the fireplace will be a natural focal point as are the chairs you are considering, so will look nice to pair them together.

    For chairs I like #4, #8 and #11.

jejvtr, YES!! Pictures please! Such good information you posted and I see the bottom heaviness of the new chair.

Here is the new sofa I forgot to link, what do you think of it?

Chair #8 in the beautiful fabric 30448.. I am liking it more and more. The manufacturer is Hunting House, which is a very nice, good quality manufacturer. I have purchased a sofa in the past from them, and it is very well made, 8 way hand tie, yadda, yadda.

jerseygirl, that's the way I am leaning to now, using an armless as an accent.

Carol, LOVE the chair, it does look a lot like the sofa (which is a Sherrill) I know King Hickory is a great name, whit a great product - there are just so many to choose from!

How I decided which manufacturer to use, was based on the fabrics. I went to about 5 different good quality furniture stores, and went through, Rowe, Lexington, Clayton Marcus, Sherrill, Huntington House and a couple others! I fell in love with the Huntington House fabric, and haven't let go of it since day one. Then, I went searching for the sofa color, and found one in both Lexington & Sherrill. Sherrill has frames I like better, so.. thats how it evolved!

Thanks Brutuses & valinsv, your opinions count and I very much appreciated the feedback. As I mentioned - I am on my own, DH won't help, and I don't want to enlist the furniture stores sales people too much, because I most likely will order through a NC store (as I have done this for years and savings are 50%)

Sherrill makes great furniture. I had a sofa from them for 19 years with the original fabric. I had a hard time giving it up. It was so comfortable.

    Tinker

You are working hard - we are with you :) keep the spirit and when you do feel overwhelmed - you are - step back take a deep breath -

    here's some older pics

I'll take pics of the Lee sofa - can't find any right now

    good luck

tinker: Lovely chair and fabric choice. In fact, you've given me an idea for my own chairs for my living room.

jejvtr: I love those chairs of yours which are just like tinker's #8. It's a beautiful room with the little triangle side table, cushions, rug, etc. Perhaps they will be a solution to my problem as well. They look very comfortable, but not too boxy or bulky. I'll have to see if there is a Hunting House distributor in Nor Ca.

jejvtr, LOVE your room, the whole thing! Love the rug, the chairs, the windows - very nice!

valinsv, glad we help! It can seem a little overwhelming to me at times!

I am sure of the chairs - #8 in upholstery #1

Now for the sofa's... the first one or this new one? I am liking the new one, (but it is very different then what I normally would choose). Do you all think it is to similar to the chairs and that the first one might work better?

I don't know your taste, moreless all the ins & outs of it! but this has some of the things you seem to like. I like it, anyway! lol. It looks more comfortable than the last one.

Here is a link that might be useful: Sofa Style

    tinker

I went "shopping" for a couch

Like your "new" one - Is it comfy? did you test drive it
I like a bigger roll on the arm personally

They are all Lee industry ones - which I know may be an issue for you - but tried & true & extra comfy
I also think w/Lee you have options of different legs/skirts

Keep going tinker your doing great - can't wait to see your final product

jejvtr, want to come shopping with me!! ??

Squirrel, yes, yes, yes - you're picking up on my taste for sure! Really LOVE that sofa, and even looked at it last week, but DH is 100% against it - so we compromise a little!

However, (insert: trumpets sounding) I HAVE decided!!! I found my couch and my chair style that I will be going with (just wish the wheels weren't on the sofa). These are totally differnt then what I even posted, but since I decided to go with chairs instead of a lov-seat, I found more options. Now I just need to decide which fabric to use for the chairs, I like them both!

I found the coolest site that had Sherrill and Lexington furniture online, where you can take the frames and put your fabric on! Here is the actual sofa and chair (with fabric #2).

    {{gwi:1543683}}

now.. onto the end tables, rug, lamps, pictures, etc... YIKES!

good for you tinker!! looking great! -
Just make sure you measure the height of arm of each piece before you decide on tables -

Love your choices! It's going to look great. Would you mind sharing the website you found where you can try out frames and fabrics? Thanks.

Nice choices, tinker. Did you ask about doing some other leg, or something to eliminate the wheels on the couch? I don't care for the look of that, either.

Can't wait too see how this all comes together. I think doing the couch and two chairs will prove to be a great choice for you.

As for the floor plan, as I mentioned on the other thread, I think in part it depends on whether you are putting a tv above the fireplace.

I like the second and third layouts, guess it depends if you want to have that extra accent chair. You might also try the two chairs on one side, couch opposite them (I would likely put the couch on the left side of the fireplace, so you don't have the feeling of a wall as you come into the room on the right.

One other choice with just the two chairs would be to put the couch on the left, one chair on the right with its back to the counter, a table on the corner, and the other chair at a right angle to that, facing the couch. I might open up the seating area a bit.

Thanks ladies! It feels like a relief to have finally made up my mind!

Polkadots, I don't mind sharing the site at all, it really helped me a lot to visualize. The website is Treasure's Furniture Click on their 'online catalog' and then choose sofa's or chairs.

Les, thanks so much for your help! I have decided that we will put the wiring in for a plasma TV, but for now, I am planning on no TV, just a framed picture. I do feel good about about using the 2 chairs vs. the love-seat. It is easy to see now that the furniture arrangement will be open to many possibilities! Regarding the feet, I am going to ask if they have an option to replace them.

That is a relief isn't it! Those look super comfy and I love the sofa! I think the rounded softness will complement nicely with some of the more detailed things you were looking at with your curvy lighting fixtures.

    How long does this take?

tinker-since you have made up your mind I hope you don't mind if I ask jejvtr how she likes her Lee furniture. I have been looking at that line and wonder if you could please give some pointers-comfy, durable, etc?

BTW-tinker-I really love your choices. I need a couch and 2 chairs too!
