I would look for a neutral rug that you like as opposed to trying to "match" the aqua carpet. Or have you considered a sisal rug? It would also neutralize the color of the rug. You could add TINY bits of the aqua in your accessories to "reference" the original carpet.

I think that chocolate brown looks really good with aqua. What about a sisal, or other natural looking rug and bamboo blinds or brown drapes?

And how long do you expect to live with the carpet?

Guess what I'm saying is to be sure that's not what you're doing here -- trying to match something you don't like and want to get rid of.

One possibility -- Our house is under total renovation, so we lived with 'gotta go' carpeting in some rooms for much too long. Until one day we finally just ripped it out. The floor underneath was plywood, and honestly, it was much better looking than that ugly carpet. If we'd taken the time to paint it, it could actually have been quite presentable for a few years.

So is a nice rug in colors you do like over painted wooden subfloor an option?
