Simple Farmhouse Bedroom

After a month in our new house I finally have one room done!

I painted the walls a light tan color that I mixed up using some cream paint I found in the basement and a dark tan I had left over from our last house. I have about ten gallons of this color and plan to use it for the rest of the main floor as well.

I had to dye my curtains since I didn't have enough of one color to cover both windows (the one on the long wall is nearly 9' long). They are linen and took the dark brown dye very well. DH put the rods up for me last night.

The bedding is Restoration Hardware's Cypress Paisley in Goldenrod.

On the wall opposite the bed sits an old trunk topped with a vintage oval mirror.

I've never used nightstands so don't plan to add them. I really like clean, unadorned walls too so I'll probably just leave them as is even though I do have one piece of art that would work in the room.

I will be replacing the light fixture at some point. The 1950s pink frosted glass fixture puts a pinkish cast on the walls that I'm not crazy about.

This master bedroom is pretty small by today's standards (11'x13') but it's much bigger then any of our previous bedrooms so it feels spacious and airy to us...

We finished up the hardwood floors in the living and dining rooms on Saturday and once the finish has cured they will be my next project.
