Opinion: Dark Brown Leather Sofa and Sage Wall

I am going to be painting a den in a color called Ruskin Room Green made by Sherwin Williams. It looks like a sage. It is right in the middle of light and dark. My question is: do you think a dark brown leather sofa would look okay against this color paint. The floors in the room are a Brazilian cherry and the rest of the furniture is a mid to dark brown.

Thank you!

I love that color! It's very earthy and would be a good backdrop to the leather. I am planning on green for my family room with my leather sofa.

The only colors that don't work against sage (IMO) are blue greens.
(And heck - I've done that!)

This is my day to be posting (old) pictures of my house. Here is a shot of my dark brown leather couch against BM Quiet Moments, which is also a sage green shade. I love it. Sorry for the blurry image but at least it should give you a sense of the color interplay. As you can see we also have dark brown leather club recliners...I think it all works together well.

Thank you for all of the great feedback! I went sofa shopping yesterday. I went to Thomasville and saw a couch that I liked called the Benjamin. I know that Thomasville is only a mid level quality but I also have to consider that my two little kids who will standing on it (now matter how many times I tell them not to do it :)) I am also going to take a look a leather sofas made by Hancock & Moore since that they have such a great reputation. A local retailer in my area (Bucks County PA), Hendrixsons, sell them.

My sister painted her living room SW7739 Herbal Wash and has a brown leather sofa and it looks great. I think you will see similar results.

We have a very similar color with hardwood flooring and dark leather furnishings. I found that using a rug with the browns, greens, and a little gold, red, and maroon, broke up the furniture from the floor. I love it!

Subwaytile, my couch is Thomasville and it's held up great. We don't have littles but we do have adults who like to lounge and cats who occasionally leap on/off. Other than a (very) few scratch marks the couch is still in perfect shape. Cushions aren't sagging, leather either. I definitely am pleased with my Thomasville leather couch.

Runninginplace, That is good to hear. I am not sure if you saw another post of mine about Thomasville but I looked at the their Benjamin sofa yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with the look and the comfort. It has some traditional features like rolled arms, bun feet and nail heads but still has a modern look. Today, I looked at H&M's City Sofa. It looked nice and I am sure it is well made but it is probably a little too basic for me.

I really like the Benjamin. I looked at it, but with a toddler and baby, it's more than I want to spend. Considering how hard my 3 year old is on furniture-- I will probably end up buying new furniture in 5 years--maybe then.

We have SW Halycon Green on our walls and a tan slipcover right now in the interim (never planned on keeping my first "real" sofa this long). I'd love to get a chocolate brown sofa or else there is one I like that's a charcoal grey. I'm hoping to bring in more browns, reds, and rusts into the room based on this inspiration pic.

The sagey greens IMO are really pretty neutral and seem to work with a lot. The green is more intense that what it appears in the pic.
