Full Size Headboard/Queen Size Mattress?

Would a full size headboard work with a queen size mattress set without looking skimpy?

I am decorating my guest bedroom in Hollywood Regency using furnishings from my Mom's Bedroom. This headboard would fit the bill once I paint it.

    The photo didn't open.
If you use a full mattress with a Queen size mattress, I would imagine the bedding would have to be very plump and full to look the part.

Even though sheets and bedding compare a queen with a full, I think the headboard would be way too small. I'd definately do a measure first. Nice headboard though, hope it works out for you!

There's only 3" of difference per side once your bed is in place, and that's not significant. I think the headboard is adorable and would look great painted. I had an old wood headboard from the 40's for many years, that I bought for $20 and used with my queen bed. It looked great. Here's a link to help make it work.

Here is a link that might be useful: I bought something like this!

I'm sorry I do not have a pic, but can only tell you it looks totally normal! I have an antique double bed for which I purchased something( I don't remember exactly what) that turned the frame into s queen. You must do this or the mattress/box spring s will not fit properly. You would NEVER know it was not a queen from the head and foot boards...I promise!

Leahcate and Red. I thought I had read somewhere that it would work. Wish I could see a picture. Thanks for the link.

Now I have a choice. A CL Queen Upholstered Headboard that I would reupholster. The frame is perfect for Hollywood Regency. It is just a little tougher for me to pick up since it's over an hour away and we don't have an SUV. I may be able to get someone to do me a favor. I spoke to the guy and it's still available and now free.

I would go with the wooden one! Or send it to me please. Not so much the upholstered one.
I have a full sized bed and a queen mattress, and it just doesnt matter, you can't tell at all!

The fact that the headboard gets wider at the top would probably help balance it out with the size of the bed. With pillows up against it I bet you wouldn't notice it is not exactly the right size.

Ask the CL owner of the regency headboard if they could measure the width at the widest part of the headboard, which is where the headboard curves out on each side just below the top line. I am betting that it will give you a couple of inches of width on each side which will balance the difference between the 54" width of the full mattress and the 60" of the queen.

You will also be able to disguise the difference a bit by how you place the pillow shams on the head of the bed.
