If you have a large metal tree, I would hang it in a central location and then make paper templates of the photos you want to hang, place them on your wall with tape and move them around until you have a pleasing set. I did "pin" to one of my pinterest boards something someone had posted of different ways to place multiple pictures on a wall. I am Nancy Hehmann on pinterest. It depends on the look you want. I really like the look of mismatched items on my gallery wall. I have a rather contemporary room, but I have all types of frames, including ornate and reclaimed barn wood. Check out any museum and notice they don't use matching frames. I think the idea with art is to use what speaks to you and the frame should complement the art - not the walls. Good luck.

I actually like your uncluttered look. First, consider investing in an appropriate sized mirror for the wall above the dresser -- narrow board frame, if any frame at all. You could move the dresser along the wall to the left rather than have it shoved up against the window. You can center it unless you're interested in investing in a pair of night stands and table lamps or something else for in front of the window -- then you'd probably need to move the dresser to the far left of the wall next to the door. Pick a color from your new bed spread that you like and choose solid color drapes that hang from near the ceiling nearly to the floor with tie backs) for the window(s). If your bed frame will let you use risers to raise the height of your bed, you could add a bed skirt and gain storage beneath the bed. A higher bed can change the overall appearance of the room. The only "art" you might need is something that actually reflects your own personal interest hung on the wall over the bed. Don't let anyone convince you that you "need" "art" so you go out and spend money of something to fill the space.
