Help! I can't figure out how to post a photo!

I have read the insturctions several times, but I can't figure out how you all are posting photos in this forum, imbedded in your message. I would like to post a question with photos, but can't seem to figure it out. Pardon my ignorance! Can anyone tell me how to do it?

thanks.

You're not the only one sister! I want to know too. I actually got a picture to post on my preview but when I submitted nothing happened. The message nor the picture would post. I don't know...

You need to host your picture somewhere. Let's assume you use a free site like photbucket.

To embed the image in your post you will need to use HTML code.

The code is surrounded by so looks like this NOTE NO SPACES between and code

The code for embedding an image is

    img src="URL FOr PICTUrE LOCATION"

So I have an image in photobucket that is here

    http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/LaniKaye221/Kitchen%20remodel/complete/18.jpg

To embedd it use img src="http://i140.photobucket.com/albums/r26/LaniKaye221/Kitchen%20remodel/complete/18.jpg"; enclosd by

and this is what you get

Photobucket is definitely easier to use than Flickr, because the html code is in its own little box to be easily copied, then pasted into the body of your message: when you look at the Preview, the picture is there! Took me years to figure it out, even with the help of stalwart GW members. Because I am cognitively challenged.

What about the "instructions" is difficult to understand? I thought they were pretty clear, but if you've read them several times and still do not understand then there must be something missing or maybe there's a better way?

I've linked directly to the "Posting Pictures" topic of the "Read Me" thread...so please tell me what the problem is.

Fun2learn..... me too!! I promised to post pics of my wrecked out kitchen with the Wall down... that was over a week ago... I followed the instructions but all i got was a bunch of numbers (the html) but no photo. I opened up a Photo Bucket account and loading pics was easy... but cannot get those images to show on the Kitchen Forum. I am not one to give up so I am going to try again on the weekend.::))

Are you all using the code in the box labeled "HTML Code" (in Photobucket)? All you have to do is copy the code in that box and past it in the "Message" box (where you type your post). When you preview the message, your picture should appear. The code will look something like this:

    OR

...copy the code in that box and paste it...

OK I'm really going to expose my ignorance here but how do you copy and paste on a MAC?

I followed the instructions to post a picture and was able to see the picture when I previewed the message but when I clicked on submit nothing happened. It wouldn't post my message or picture.

On a Mac, press the apple key

plus the C key for copy, apple key and V key for paste. (And if you ever need it, the apple key and X key for cut.)

For images, paste the html code that looks like this:
    {{!gwi}}

into the MAIN message box along with your text, not in the Optional Link URL box below the main text box.

dazedandconfused...can you post a link to your album? I will try to walk you through it using your own pictures. Maybe it will be easier for you to see how it works if you use your own album & pictures.

MAC users...it appears the "apple" key is the same as the "Ctrl" key on non-Apple computers.

I did follow your instructions and used photo bucket and did manage to post some photos last night. I couldn't figure out how to get a link to my entire album on photo bucket, though. I did see how to get the links for each individual photo. Buel- the instructions I was having trouble with were the ones at the bottom of the forum page: "instructions how to use this forum" and its associated linked help pages. I realize that the link you posted for me above, to your "new to this forum" message post, does have good instructions on how to post photos. Sorry, I had read that post a few weeks ago, and didn't remember there was anything about posting photos in it. Your instructions are clear. Thanks again.

To link to an album, look for the "Share this album" box in the upper right corner of your album page. Note that you have to be in an album view to see this box, not an individual photo view.

Click in the box labeled "Direct Link"

You should see the word "copied" appear briefly. If you don't, click it again.

Now, paste the link you just copied into the "Optional Link URL:" box under the "Message" box where you're typing your post. Enter a name for the link in the box labeled "Name of the Link:".

When you preview your post, the link will be active.
