I just got the samples of the cedar shake stained light grey. I am not sure if I like them.

please help

This is nothing more than the second thing that popped into my head-
Don't paint the brick
Paint the Trim Off-White
Paint the hardiplank in a cream that pushes toward yellow
Paint the shakes a similar but slightly darker creamy yellow
Paint the shutters Brick Red
The first thing was to paint the brick an olive color, the shakes and siding in a gray green (BM Nantucket Gray?) and the shutters dark (brown or black) but that was before I noticed the palm trees!

Yes I am in FLORIDA . Sorry I should have mentioned that.
I posted in another forum and they recommended I come over here. You all are well thought of.

I am putting up shutters. My neighbor has a beautiful 2 story with bright school bus yellow shutters . Another neighbor down the street has bright aqua.

I was thinking green shutters.

I like the Rockport and am now thinking of doing them in a sage/grassy green..but of course I am open to suggestions.

My OTHER neighbor has a green house I LOVE . I want to do my shutters that color. I have to find out what it is.

I vote for the gray color -- to blend in with the brick. And a vote for the black shutters and satin (or semi-gloss) black on the front door. Very elegant!

Or perhaps a bright white door?
Add brighter colors around the front yard with landscaping -- flowers and foliage .....

I vote for the cream, it looks like a Florida home look.

If you do cream then with the green colored shutters, then I would opt for the darker color door (as is in the picture above by suero)
Whatever you do DO NOT PAINT the bricks.
Though if you paint the exterior cream and the shutters darker
charcoal or chocolate, then paint the door deep red or deep orange.

My vote is for gray. It's elegant.

I vote for the cream color also. It's too beautiful to use the grey color scheme. It just blends into the background and almost disappears. Suero, could you show us the house with the cream color and med/dark green shutters and a door that is very dark green?? I'm thinking the green would really compliment the cream and the brick.

I vote for the gray. It makes the house look more sophisticated IMO.

My own house has cream siding, red brick and gray shutters and door, so I'm obviously partial to that color scheme. However, alterit and spouse have to live there, so no matter how I or others vote, their pick wins.

Is it easy to learn ?

I'm using an old version of Fireworks. It's adequate for this. You just need something that lets you do layers and change colors.
I've been working with graphics programs since Windows 1.0, so I can't tell you how hard or easy the software is, since I've learned things incrementally, not all at once.

Guess what...The Mason was at my house today cleaning off all the old bricks. He told me that I MUST either paint my brick or put new brick on.

Apparently the mortar on the house is old and not pre mixed. Therefore it is crumbling. He said the paint would work as a sealer...

So Now I am Back to having to PAINT THE BRICK...uggg

I am going to try Coastal Fog by BM and a Green for the shutters like Brookside Moss BM......
