Furniture .. long buffet table in front of window?

Does anyone have a buffet table or substantial console table in front of a window in their living or family room?

Not sure if it is *okay* to do this.

I have all my furniture arranged at one end of the room so the other end has empty space.

I am considering placing a long narrow buffet table in front of the window.

There are long curtains hanging on rings over the window.

there is also a A/C in the window. I keep the curtains closed over it to hide it.

Is it a sin to put furniture in front of windows/curtains.

Otherwise I won't be able to put anything there.

I don't, but I have thought about it and would if I could. Your description of dealing with the empty end of the room seems ideal. A lighted lamp on the table in the window would look welcoming from the outside, and reflects in the window from the inside and looks homey. If you draw the draperies, you have a nice backdrop to whatever is on the table. You also have a place to put houseplants, even in a northern exposure, so you never have to come here and ask if it's ok to use fake greenery, lol. (I realize some of this doesn't fit your exact situation with the AC, but maybe others have a similar question.)

I placed my buffet under the window in the dining room. I have a side table also but that I placed along the long wall because I had a large piece of art and buffet lamps that I wanted to use with the table.

Here's my old buffet -- that sits in front of a long window in the living room. The decor on top changes frequently -- or with the season.

I have placed a large antique sideboard in front of a window in the great room. I am limited in where to place furniture as we have three walls of windows. I think it looked good altho just rearranged and put the loveseat there and the sideboard on the other wall for a change. It's a window where I seldom bother to open the curtains so they make a nice backdrop to the sideboard and now to the loveseat.

If I didn't put furniture in front of windows I don't know how I'd arrange anything. Both my great room (LR) and breakfast area have windows on 3 walls.

Thanks guys.. for the pics! That really helps to visualize.
I bought a long narrow buffet or dresser today (I pick it up tomorrow)
I haven't decided if I am going to put it in front of the window as a buffet or in my bedroom as a dresser.
It has been painted black and has an Asian influence. It needs a little TLC
I am going to try it first in the living room in front of the curtains and if it looks funny I will use it in my bedroom.
I *just* rearranged and put a small table with 2 chairs in front of the space and it doesn't look bad at all.
It still looks *open* in front of the curtains because the table and chairs are leggy.
I am thinking "game table and chairs"
The table is not actually a game table but I could paint a checker board on top or just put a checker board on top and wala lol.
Or buy a nice game table later.
I'll try to post pics tomorrow :)
