Are you a memeber of Costco? 40lb of Kirkland Super Premium Chicken and Rice is around $23 - MUCH cheaper than even the grocery store brands and it's a much more nutritious food than any of the grocery store brands to boot.

I don't know if you could find it, you could try feed stores but I would look for a food called Healthwise- it's made by a great company called Natura. It's a cheaper version of Innova and California Natural which are two of the best brands of dog food you can buy.

Otherwise has anyone contacted your local pet stores and feed stores to pick up damaged bags of new dog food that have somehow ripped during shipping and are unsellable to donate?

I have fed Pedigree dry to my dogs for years. The latest two lived to 15(lab/chow) and 20(chihuahua mix).

Am using it for the current GSD mix we have now. The whippet mix has digestive problems and is on Purina lamb and rice. Both are less expensive than so called premium or natural brands and both dogs are thriving well.

thank you all for your responses..Shroppie: I am not a Costco member but they frequently have "trial" days where you can go in and check things out...will have to do that.
roobear: good idea about the damamged bags...will have to contact someone "in charge" and see if they are doing that yet. Handymac...yes...I too used Pedigree dry for a number of years when I had rescued greyhounds and they seemed to do well on it. Think I will get a few bags of that for now, and then go check Costco sometime for some larger size bags of something!
