Many of us have. Here's a pic of my unfinished kitchen. Still backsplashless!! Black cabs on the range wall. Rift cut oak on the island and painted grey on the pantry.

Thanks for the photo mahlgold! I love the grey and black together. I think what I am not sure about is how to break down the color usage.

I will have a stand alone pantry on one wall between two glass doors and a huge hutch/snack station on another wall. My kitchen is a U and I will have base cabinets following this shape (double wall oven cab and fridge cab at either end, sink base at bottom). However, I will only have two upper cabinets (either side of sink window) plus wood hood over cooktop (next to ovens).

So I see many possibilties of how to parcel out the different colors, just not sure where it will make the most impact.

We just ordered ours. White Dove perimeters with black sandoff for the island. Can't wait.

Technically I have three cabinet colors, but it was actually a way of reducing the # of colors/finishes visually.

Uppers are wall color (as is backplash)

Lowers are charcoal grey under a soapstone counter (to go with the adjacent black marble and slate fireplace)

The integrated fridge is maple in a natural mahogany-ish color because it is part of the cabinetry surrounding a mahogany staircase.

So, three, but as a way of making things blend in more rather than stand out more.

My perimeter (2 side walls) are white, the island is cherry and my back wall of tall storage is blue.

I have 4 cabinet colors, 3 backsplashes, and 3 countertop materials. Go for it...Your choices sound lovely.

Thanks everyone. All of your kitchens are so lovely...At this point I can't imagine being finished! My CM is mixing up a variety of paint samples for us to choose from, in the meantime I guess I will get out my sketchpad and crayons and start dreaming. :-)
