I have this in my house, done by P.O.'s. It is all in bed, bath and hall areas. In one bath the inside is white trim with it stopping at the big board trim piece that the door shuts against--that piece is stained like the hallway. The door is white on the bath side and stained on the hall side. the door edge is painted on the lock side and stained on the hingeside-hallside.

I also have doors in the bedrooms that have been left stained on both sides with the trim white and I actually like the look. HTH

We're going with white woodwork in the laundry room as we revamp it. I'm going to leave the door stained on both sides.

In my house, all done by the builder originally, it is both ways. The master bedroom has white trim & the inside of the door is painted white, outside is stained (the rest of the doors in the house are stained). The foyer has white trim, but the front door, french doors leading into an office (which has stained woodwork) & the closet doors are stained (both sides). When I get my house cleaned up, I can snap photos for you if that would help.

Rule for painting doors:

If the door you are painting is a different color on each side, the rule for the door edges is the edge that faces you when the door is opened towards you is the same color as the side you just opened. In other words, if the inside of your door is white, the edge that faces you when you are standing inside (usually the lock side) should also be white.
