How can I block the weeds & junk coming over from my neighbors yard?
Comments (16)It is usually best if we have established a friendly relationship with our neighbors. If your neighbor feels comfortable calling you to get a cup of flour, to pick up packages when they are away or for a referral for a handyman or tradesman, it is easy to go to them and find out if they know their weeds are out of control and offer to assist them with getting things under control. I actually asked my neighbor if they knew a young person who would be willing to come and weed my beds. I had suffered a heart attack and just couldn't get everything done and the weeds got out of control. Instead of giving me a referral they brought the church youth group to my home and weeded everything for free. One of the adult church members was a landscape pro and he brought his edger and a load of mulch and all kinds of tools. In just a few hours my beds were beautiful. I will also admit that sometimes it is not possible to establish a friendly relationship. If you have jerks as neighbors you may want to check with your municipality and see if there are any rules on how high the weeds are allowed to get and just file a complaint and let the municipality deal with them. If they are beyond jerks and are actually someone who you think could be dangerous you may want to just ignore the issue or build a fence. Knowing your neighbors is key in knowing the best approach....See MoreDark walls for cozy adult sitting room?
Comments (31)Yes I need to paint the way to the right also as the hubs thinks it will look good. Looking for console tables but having a hard time finding something I love that doesn't cost a fortune. I want to incorporate some glass/metal to help lighten it up, but not sure. I'm going to change the light on the fan to a crystal one or something since the Mr. won't let me take it down....See MoreShould my range be sticking out this much?
Comments (57)To everyone in this discussion you have to keep the clearance of the door for fire safety reasons I know that is looks better flush but the truth of the matter is it's not a smart idea to trap the heat of the oven! You see show room displays and photos of the range sitting flush but they aren't hooked up and being used either! It's just for show! It's just one of those things I urge you to live with! By the way I'm a carpenter who does kitchen once a month! Good luck!...See MoreHow many counter stools should I get for my island?
Comments (13)I definitely wouldn't buy 4 of anything unless they are returnable. Actually, I would suggest making sure you can return any stool you buy, even if you choose only 3. The reason is that there are SO MANY factors in how well a stool works in a given place....everything from the surface of the floor and whether you can (or need to) scoot or slide on the floor, to the roughness of the upholstery or surface....weight......backs.....strength and size of typical users.....etc......plus the loading and unloading. All affect how much space will be needed to make the stools truly comfortable. I agree kids are more tolerant of certain types of discomfort (like hard, uncushioned seats), but they probably won't be tolerant of, say, a stool that is hard to scoot because it's heavy and sticks to the floor....especially if the seat if very slippery, such that you can't use your body weight and friction on the seat to aid in the scoot. Good luck!...See Morecat_mom
