Ack! Hole cut too large in granite for my prep sink!

March 24, 2010

Granite install was today. The guy who cut the granite followed the "top mount" line of the template instead of the "undermount" line for my prep sink. The result is that the hole is too big for the prep sink undermounted!

Granite company owner got on the phone right away with the plumbing supply house to see if there was a slightly larger sink available and there is. It'll make my sink about 2" wider and 2" deeper. I actually wanted the shallower sink for my prep sink because I'm trying to squeeze a small trash can and garbage disposal under this sink too. But there really isn't any option.

So, now the sink has to be ordered and granite piece goes back to have a larger hole cut for the new larger sized sink.

Granite looks beautiful. I just wanted something in this project to go right the first time.

Thanks for letting me vent.
