I returned an 8 foot hooked wool runner to Overstock but they sent the wrong rug to me so they provided me with a prepaid shipping label and I took it to UPS. The rug was supposed to have a black background and the one I received was white. They were good about it.

I really liked the rug, but didn't reorder from them because I was afraid the same thing would happen. I ended up buying a black one from an eBay seller for about the same price and free shipping. So I got what I wanted but it took awhile.

I returned a rug to another online company once and it cost me $50. When they saw my mouth drop open, they explained it was the bulk of the item which made it expensive to ship. It was a 5 by 8 rug.

If their description is wrong....in any way...you can tell them that the item is not as described (check the colors, check the size, etc) they can be persuaded to pay for the return. They always say that they will need to inspect the item to confirm what you say, but I've never had a problem.

And as far as that "unopened" clause, just need to tell them that this was discovered after opening.

If you raise enough stink, and ask for a supervisor, they will pay for it.

You can also get them to send you a pre-paid slip, with the understanding that if their inspectors don't agree, then you have to pay the shipping (it comes off the return amount). I would believe that their rates are going to be better than what you or I would find by going to the USPS, or UPS ourselves without a corporate account.

So, go check it, and compare reality to exactly how it's described.

I had to return a reclining chair once, but it was put together wrong at the factory, so I didn't have to pay for it. The hardest part about the return was the box was so big, we had to get a friend with a pick-up truck to help us take it to the UPS store. I will be watching this thread, though, as I always wondered how it would be buying a rug online sight unseen.

I haven't returned a rug, but I bought a chandelier and it had a small amt of damage to it. I told them about it and they sent me another and told me to keep the one I had. They were easy to deal with.
If you have to return it because you don't like it, it will cost atleast $50 to ship. UPS and Fedex are usually the cheapest for large items.

Wow, expensive shipping. I should've remembered the gift of a LARGE teddy bear I sent to my niece's new baby--cost over $75 to send it to her (very big bear in an equally big box)...good thing the bear was "free".

So, since the rug was barely over $100, I'll just keep it and use it until I find something I like better....and who knows, by then maybe it'll have grown on me.

I ordered a rug from them a year or so ago, and didn’t like the color When I found out how much it is to return, I kept it and won’t order from them again, because of the cost to return.
