Help Me Decide Today (Before the Sale Ends)!!

Hi,

My kitchen has creamy white cabinets with jet mist granite (kind of like a black/grey soapstone) and a center island that is a medium dark stained maple with white fantasy quartzite (kind of like carrara marble). My rectangular dining table has an iron trestle base and the table top is fairly light -like pine, but not yellow. The walls are BM smoke, which is a grey with blue. I'm ordering parsons chairs from Ballard Designs and I chose creamy white and chocolate twill slipcovers. Now I'm reconsidering those choices and thinking of black microfiber for the four center chairs and "onyx stripe" for the end chairs (it has a wide black stripes interspersed with thin black and white stripes, which almost look grey). I have two young boys, so the microfiber is appealing...but would that look too dark? BTW, I have a huge bay window in the room that faces south, so I get a lot of light. The big sale ends today.... THANKS!!

is the creamy white and chocolate a pattern or are you ordering some that are the white and some that are the chocolate?

As far as the black, I could see how that would be appealing to hide dirt, but I'm wondering if every piece of lint or fabric would show up.

That's a good point about lint... My original choice was to have solid chocolate twill for the four center chairs and a solid off-white quilted pattern for the end chairs. I'm just not sure that the chocolate twill will go with the brown island, which is nearby and very visible from the dining area. Also, my knobs, pulls, appliances and light fixture over the table are satin nickel/stainless steel.

Dark to hide stains, light to hide dust.

And for boys, medium dark pattern. Black (or chocolate brown) stripes sound like madness, because they will show all the light colored shnibbles (crackers, break, whatever other detritus that boys generate). White stripes sound undesirable as well because even a drop of anything (chocolate milk, catsup, etc.) will show forever.

Pattern, pattern, pattern.

That said, I think the stripes would look stunning. (For about two days.) Stripes - in the right scale - are always very architectural to my eye. A nice "finished" look.
