Tropics Blue and Midnight Blue Stonescapes mini info needed

I am remodeling my white plaster pool with Stonescapes mini and have been trying to decide between Tropics Blue and Midnight Blue Stonescapes mini pebble finish. I have not been able to see any sample pools in person despite trying to (I am in Orange County, California).

I have seen some photos of both finishes on this site and am trying to get a feel for how accurate the photos really are compared to how they look in person. I'm looking for a rich blue that is neither green or turqoise but not too dark either.

Any feedback would be appreciated from those who either have those finishes or who have seen them in person.

I will try to take some photos of our pool area, including the massive back wall with tile in case anyone has opinions as to which finish may look best.

Thanks!

The pictures I saw on here for our Tahoe Blue was what it turned out to be as opposed to the samples they provided. The samples were way off. I think midnight blue is pretty dark...if you worried about darkness than the Tropics blue is probably better given what your describing. I think the midnight blue is the closest thing to black as I recall.

I am not familiar with Stonescapes minis, but the following would probably apply to any of the pool finishes. Various factors may make the pool color look different, like time of day, sunlight vs shade, probably even tile edge color and landscaping. We have Pebbletec Tropical Breeze. I like the color best when it is overcast or when it's not quite as sunny out. Bright sunlight makes it lighter in color than I really like. Would I change, no! Just be aware it probably won't be the same color all the time. We saw Tahoe Blue, Tropical Breeze and Midnight Blue on actual pools and samples and pictures were not the same as seeing it in person. We did go back and forth between Tahoe and Tropical Breeze and are very happy with our choice.

Don't forget the Aqua Blue... Its just Light Blue...not dark at all and doesn't really have shades of green or aqua.

We have kids and my wife didn't want the pool to dark...something about it being dangerous because you can't see the bottom of the pool. I didn't want to argue with her.

The sun does make a huge difference. The sunnier, the lighter the pool will look....however, I find myself typically only looking at the pools color first thing in the morning or the evening...the rest of the time I'm in it.

Thanks for the feedback. The entire pool is 5 feet deep all the way across and gets lots of direct sun until very late in the afternoon. We have a 2 year old so needing to see the bottom is certainly a concern, but with that depth, I don't think it will be a problem unless someone says otherwise. I will look for photos of Aqua Blue also to compare. Meant to take some photos this morning of our pool area, but had to run off to work so will take some later and hopefully post tonight.

We have Stonescapes Tropics Blue mini pebble and love the color. As discussed above it does change depending upon time of day and weather conditions. On a bright sunny morning we get a really nice bright blue as the day goes on the blue darkens/intesifies. On a cloudy day the color is more to the turqoise spectrum... but how many cloudy days do we have in SoCal!? I personally like the way the color changes. I don't think you would find the Tropics Blue too dark. We have small kids too and can see clearly to the 7.5 ft bottom. We also really like that the Tropics Blue has crushed shell in it which adds an extra sparkle.

I've attached a link to some of our photos. The day we had start-up (July 9/07) it was overcast. There are a few photos taken a day or two later first thing in the morning on a sunny day and photos right after the landscape was finished which show the color around mid day on a bright sunny day.

I will have to post some new photos now that the landscape is beginning to fill in some. Hope this helps.

    Thanks dogpaddle, beautiful pool!

I have some photos to post that I took late this afternoon. It was a cloudy day here so the colors of the stone and glass tile at the water line do not appear as bright as they would if it were sunny. The deck is a very light travertine (installed by the prior owners), which can get very bright in the sun, which is why I was thinking that a richer, darker blue water color would be flattering. Any input as to which color finish anyone thinks would work best would be appreciated!

Hmmm, the photos don't appear to be posting. What am I doing wrong?

Here are progress photos of our pool we are remodeling. The waterline, spotter, and accent tile is glass and the rest is travertine. It was cloudy this afternoon when these were taken, so in reality the colors come across as richer. The deck tile is also a light/white travertine (installed by the prior owners, I never would have chosen something so light as it can be blinding in the sun). Any input as to which Stonescapes finish would look best? I'm still thinking Tropics blue but am certainly open to input from others.

dkdollie: That is gorgious!! Although yours is a completely different style than our pool... the color tones are very similar. You have the dark brown, tans and gold and your light colored travertine deck tile is similar to the natural grey concrete deck we have. I think the Tropics Blue would be ideal. Just my 2 cents.

I know this is old but I am trying to decide between Tropics blue and Tahoe blue. What did you decide on and do you like it?

Cheerio4 - what did you decide? We are also looking at these two colors.

Dkdolie - sorry you no longer have that house but congrats for the zero maintenance option! We are also in OC.

We are in the same boat! We can't decide between Tropics Blue and Midnight Blue. Pictures never do pools justice. Thanks for your input. Your pool is gorgeous!

@jdohrman Hi, did you decide on your color yet? Post pics if you did. Thanks!

    Hi There!

We are also building a pool and can't decide between tropics, midnight and Tahoe mini stonescapes. I too would love to see some pictures!
