I can't decide can I get opinions!

I'm trying to figure out which pillow fabric would look best with our new sofa and room. The sofa in the picture is damaged and arrived in the wrong fabric. The store said we could choose between this fabric or our original choice for the replacement and right now we're leaning towards our original choice, shown in the swatch on the bottom left of the photo.

As you can see from the second photo, the walls in the room are cream and golden colored. The curtains I'm going to use are an Ivory linen and there is also going to be a gray blue recliner in the room that has to stay. I chose the yellow flowered fabric first because the blue in it matches the recliner and helps to sort of tie it into the room but then the other fabric works great with the curtains and sofa too. So which pillow fabric do you like best?

Here's one shot of the room. On the opposite side across from the sliding door is another larger sized window. That wall is also the gold color which is why I went with Ivory curtains. They look great with both colors. Painting is not an option, so please don't suggest changing it. Thanks in advance for your input!

    Lukkirish,
I just jumped online to see if you had the photos downloaded and came across your posting. Im pretty indecisive but this is an easy one for me heee hee. Although fabrics are similiar I always see the brown distressed faux leather as much more rustic. I myself am not partial to brown brown. I love the character of the reddish tone one. Without a doubt I think it does sooo much more for the room. The pic of the sofa now in brown with darker neutral pillows just doesnt do much for me or the sofa for that matter. Its nice but just nice. The other cherry tone one has a more appealing finish and "happier upbeat "tone to it if that sounds silly enough. The pillows with the cream background really make it POP and are eyecatching like jewelry. I think you could do a lot with them as they are neutral enough. I have almost the same wall color and really dont want to paint like yourself. Perhaps you could buy some target pillows with a fabric with some yellows in it to pull the wall color along with burgundy, tan etc to tie it all together. Then a great rug with the burgundys, yellows, tans etc. It will look like you painted it that way on purpose. I think the cream linen curtains will look fabulous.

    I promise I'm not stalking you. :)

I like the swatch fabric pillows. Since the longer wall is yellower, I'd go with the pillows that bring in the shorter wall (and therefore less dominant) color. Even though tht fabric doesn't have the blue in it, you could always add some additional blue pillows, or a throw.

Hope I got your WTs right (IKEA outers, JCP sheer inners?)

Blondie, thanks so much for the input. That's exactly why I chose that fabric as an option, it works with the sofa and drapes really well.

I was going to post a separate thread for you, but since you saw this, I'll let you know here. This picture is the best representation that I could get of the sofa fabric. It's pretty much dead on (on my monitor). That Furniture Barrel store has a chat option, you should ask them if they have sample swatches available that they can send you. The fabric number I gave you the other day is also located on the same page. If you get it just as pictured in the photo it's considered a quick ship item and the pillows in that photo are what come with it. We made a change and did a special order for our sofa which supposedly cost a little more but gave us the option to choose our pillow fabric as well. I hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, you can always email me. --lukki

BTW, I tried to colorize the sofa so that it would be closer to the other microfiber (the swatch). I didn't do a good job. :) That's why it looks a little sunburnt.

Stalking Ha! That's what I was afraid you'd be thinking when I responded to your frame question. Ha! Thanks so much for doing that. It looks so good! I love it!You did better than I can do and I really really appreciate it! You and Blondie have pretty much confirmed what I was thinking too. I know my DH wants to keep the rustic worn leather fabric but I just can't get past that weird texture thing going on with it. So solid it is, with the cream and brown pillows. Yeah!

Ok, now Im stalker #2 ladies ahhahah. One more thing I was thinking of tonight as I walked past two faux leather swatches I have at the house and thought of you lukkirish. I had one similiar, almost dead on to the cherry faux (except from Best Chair company), then I also have the dark brown rustic textured type. Oddly, the cherry one was way smoother, more wipeable, nicer to feel on the skin and look at. The brown rustic one looked rougher and a static cling and electricity MAGNET. We have an dog with brown and white fur and all I could think of with the brown one was dog hair stuck all over the bottom level where he would walk past. I cant imagine if someone had a cat. I am sure the cherryish toned one will show it as well but not quite as much. Convince your husband that way and tell him that the brown one really might show any pet hair (if you have any) and perhaps be more static like. Look at it this way, if you even have to "wonder" with it sitting right there in your house and your not over the top excited about your new love and new sofa sitting there...bye bye, your guts telling you something. We women are so fickle yes but know in our hearts when somethings not sitting right. I bet your thinking of it even when your in bed. I think were all crazy ahahah. My husband is Mr. Rustic. I think he would agree that the cherry would be a good compromise for both our tastes though.

This stupid sofa situation is driving me batty. I told my hubs to stop at a different furniture store in his passing with work today. He found something that made his heart skip. He is in love. He is NEVER like that. It is leather, cozy and very soft and he told me he almost put the money down on the spot and bought it he knows its that right for us (sooooo unlike him). We are going tomorrow to look at it. I have to tell you I wish you would get this new cherry sofa back as I am starting to fall for it even on the swatch. Its calling out to me lukkirsh. Yes, I told you Im losing it over this whole decor thing ahhahaha. Ok, gotta tend to the kids. I just KNOW youll be happier.

Oh Blondie, you'll have to tell me how you like it tomorrow! Yes, I noticed the static in the fabric as well. We have two cats and it hasn't been a problem yet, but I've pretty much get them trained not to jump on the furniture. Hee hee. DH has said which ever I want is fine, I just know which he likes the best so I put a guilt trip on myself. We're going to go with the solid one and stick with our original plan.

Now I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, so don't keep me waiting to hear how it goes with the sofa!

I like both leathers, but I really like the pillows with the light background best. You had to know I was going to say that since I've been trying to create the same look :) I'm glad to finally see your room.

I prefer the lighter background pillows, as they are actually more neutral in tone and could be paired with other pillows in the blue tones or any other accent color you chose.

As for the leather, I prefer the brown in your room. It has a lot of character, and has the wall color and the floor color in the hides. The other sample reads kind of orange, and mixing that with the slightly orange tones in the floor and the gold walls doesn't work for me - too much orange tone, too "hot" feeling.

Hi Laurie, Yes, it seems that the lighter pillows are the favorite over all. Thanks! How's your room coming along?

Les, thank you for your thoughts, I don't necessarily see the orange you're talking about but that doesn't mean there isn't a tone issue I'm not considering. I'll try taking photos of each swatch with the paint color and floors on their own to see how each looks. I think having the swatches photoed side by side may be showing the contrasts too much if that makes sense.

lukkiirish - My room is kind of at a standstill right now :) I woke up thinking about your room this morning (don't ask me why) and if DH really has his heart set on the brown, you can always buy some different pillows instead of using the ones that come with it or would they let you get the lighter pillows with the brown sofa?

Laurie, I woke up thinking about that room too and believe me, I appreciate the company! LOL I can get the light pillows with either sofa, it doesn't matter which sofa we choose. I just don't know if I can live with the way the texture looks on that worn leather fabric. I posted a picture in the link below, did you see it? If not can you take a look at it and see what you think? Believe it or not in certain lighting, the reddish swatch looks just like the first photo I have posted in that thread which is from a sellers site.

I was surprised that Les said the solid fabric looked orange although in the other pictures I posted I can sort of see it now. I think part of that may be due to the camera or monitor or even both cause in person I see reddish brown. DH likes the worn look but said he'd be happy with either, I just need to decide and I'm at a loss. Any feedback you can offer from that other thread will be appreciated. thanks!

I definitely like the pillows with the lighter background. The leather with the reddish brown tone looks rich - I think it would work well with walls, but they're both nice.

Thanks juddgirl2! That's a really good description for the solid reddish fabric. It does look more traditional and rich in that fabric. I love that pillow fabric too. I'm so glad the consensuses on the pillow fabric is pretty much unanimous.

I remembered this sofa was damaged, but I forgot it was the wrong fabric also. Since the reddish leather is the one you originally wanted and DH sounds like he would be okay with it, I think I would go with that.

Thanks Laurie, I appreciate your opinion, that's what my gut is telling me too.

OK, I have a pretty good monitor and it also shows the swatch as reddish brown, love it! That fabric the sofa's done in looks like fake bomber jacket to me. Now maybe it looks real in person, I'm just sayin'...

Greenthumbfish (love that name! LOL) Thank you for the feedback, it's reddish brown in person too and is very pretty on the sofa in the store.
