From what type of wood is your deck constructed? I know on cedar you have to be very careful with toning or you end up with orange.

We applied 101 to PT wood. We really hate it. Do you think we could put 116 or another shade over this? It's been one week and my painter did 2 coats on new wood (2 months).

If you really think you can't live with it until next season, you should probably strip it and start again.

I hate to get into stripping it off. I'm sure we could tolerate it for a while. Do you think it would be ok to apply another color (like 116) next year w/o stripping?

I have had cutomers pick a color and then not like it. Usually after a few weeks they call me back and say it has grown on them. If it were me I would clean it next year and then apply a richer tone.

I am posting this a year after your original post and I have had the exact same thing happen - TWP Cedartone 101 came out very orange on PT wood. What did you do about yours? Did it weather to a more natural color and, if so, how long did it take? Thanks!
