Where to purchase quality table linens?

I have looked many places lately for quality table linens. Williams Sonoma, Dillards, Macy's, Kohls, Pottery Barn, all of the other dept. stores. I want to have a nice print table cloth and well as a plain deep red cloth maybe hemstitch? Where do you purchase a good quality table cloth at? Do the hemstich need pressed? My Mother has wonderful linens that were my Grandmother's but are all from Europe, but her table is a different size than mine as well. It just seems the ones here have a different feel etc. I would like a couple daily ones I could throw on that are simple and maybe a print one or two.

Thanks!

Maybe you could search your area for a small store like this one. It opened in my town a couple of years ago...
Otherwise - I might try ebay.

I've had good luck with Ebay. Retro 50's print tablecloths for the kitchen, Irish linen damask for the formal dining room. I even found a set of napkins that match the linen tablecloth I got from my grandmother.

Depending on the fabric it is made of, a hemstitched cloth may or may not need ironing. A cotton or linen cloth would need ironing, unless you prefer the more informal look of an unironed tablecloth. Something with polyester or a no-iron finish would need little to no ironing.

The difference in the feel may be the fiber content of the cloth. Older tablecloths would have been made out of cotton or linen, or a combination of the two. Newer tablecloths may have some polyester content or have a finish to help resist stains.

And I have to admit that if I just love a tablecloth, I will use it even if it is not the right size. I'll fold up the ends of a too-long one, or layer a too-small one over a plain one of the right size.

The Vermont Country Store has some all-cotton tablecloths. They don't have a huge selection, but the ones I've purchased have been of good quality. And Crate & Barrel has a red hemstitched tablecloth on sale right now.

Cuddledown has hemstitched linens for the bed, not sure about tables. Most of the items that are depicted at Julie's I have been able to find at Stein-Mart and TJ Maxx in years past.

What I realllyyyyyy love is a good weight linen table cloth. I KNOW that will be hell to iron and keep looking nice. My Grandmother alwys have a nice linen cloth pressed beyond lovely on her table for all meals. I never quite understood how muh time that took for her to do that until I was grown. She had lovely lines she hung on the line too that were crisp in the summer that you could just throw on the table but she ironed then anyhow. My Grandfather just said eat ont he table!!!!! She would not have it! I think I will look for a good quality hemstitch and have it monogrammed. I think I have a little too much of her in me!
